Yanks won a sloppy one. A.J. Burnett has earned a mulligan. The bats all contributed, every spot in the order had a hit, run, or RBI except catcher. Robbie Cano went yard for the third time this spring. Brett Gardner, BBT favorite, is finally named the Opening Day centerfielder. Today, it’s Andy Pettite vs. Toronto.
Mike Pelfrey didn’t get out of the first inning of a rainy one, Jerry Manuel pulled the starters after an hour rain delay. B-Squad left 19 runners on. A forgettable day. Today, it’s Oliver Perez against the Orioles.

JRZ: Yeah, you’re right, Villanova is a tougher matchup for The Tar Heels than Michigan State or UCONN. The thing that I would hate the most is if UCONN and Villanova play, because we’ll never hear the end of it of how The Big East was so dominant this season, etc. That was the good thing about Michigan State knocking off Louisville.
Yep, We wont hear the end of it.We will see if Hansbrough is as good as everybody says in the next 2 games.I KNOW his game doesnt translate to the NBA but for 2 more games he can show why he is a 3 time All-American.He needs to show that in the next 2 games and they raise a banner.Lawson is playing to be a top 5 pick instead of top 10 and Green has something to prove. They are capable of running all 3 of the other teams right out of the gym if they can play their game.We will see, no matter what it will be some good basketball.
I have to go out for a few hours, catch up with you cats later.
The Braves traded Josh Anderson to the Tigers this afternoon. Looks like Schafer will be the Braves starting cf. Tigers taking in another OF looks like they may be working on a deal themselves.
JRZ: Lawson has shown more initiative than Hansbrough has when it comes to taking over a game down the stretch. They made it this far with Lawson being the man, and Hansbrough right behind him. You’re right. Hansbrough needs to be more aggressive (like Lawson) when it comes to crunch time.
Manuel said today that Murphy will be hitting second “regularly” and Castillo eighth. That lineup is officially top heavy now.
BABE RUTH had 107 Complete Games! And he only started 163 Games!
148 GAMES! TYPO! Babe Ruth completed 107 Games, and he only started 148 games!

BABE RUTH: 148 Games Started…… 107 Complete Games
Nope. Too late. You’re disqualified, Shoe.
Shoe- Your Orioles are playing the Mets on SNY right now if you aren’t watching it.
Hernandez just said that unlike Randolph, Manuel likes to give his starters a day off. Right- Beltran played 161, Wright 160, Delgado and Reyes each played 159 last year.
OK Keith
Jeez F***ing Christ. My life is so empty that I am excited about an EXHIBITION GAME between The Orioles and The Mets. Jumping up and down like a maniac in The Yankee Stadium Bleachers for a team that is 52 games out of first place is one thing. At least that game COUNTS. But this?
One of my man-crushes just hit a home run. Adam Jones.
LIBERTY: I am on the “Live Blog” that you made available on “‘Roplitans.” I am seeing names that I am not familiar with, like “Doug,” and “Mets Geekette.” Is that live blog not from BBT? Who are these people?
No, that’s not BBT, so if you get booted for talking tuna, you’re outta luck.
LIB: No, I just wanted to know how they welcome loser Oriole fans like myself.
I imagine they should at least be polite, Shoe.
Anybody see this?

Keith Hernandez thinks Ollie gets a little “dipty doo-dering” when he gets successful.
Great Game for Oliver Perez!
John Maine, Johan Santana, Oliver Perez, and Francisco Rodriguez and JJ Putz in the bullpen. Not bad at all
STATEN ISLAND WOMAN CAROLINE WIMMER FOUND DEAD WITH HAIR DRYER CORD AROUND HER NECK
And THIS is the only picture that they have of her? She is strangled to death, and they have a picture of her with her TITS hanging out?

I should post this on the DN!
Who could forget this childhood commercial from Pistol Pete???
mets/orioles: thirdbasemen should have been on the outside part of the bag, not inside (mental error). asking shortstop to make perfect throw across runner. Keith giving cf and ss hard time, wasn’t his fault
Watch this from the ONE MINUTE MARK. It’s the best commercial ever. Pistol Pete!
If you’re critical of the link, then DON’T POST IT.
I’m out. Later.
Reminded me of some of the tools on the DN!
Nice hair Shoe!
Why was Tatis trying to go for three with o out? Beltran went to third the inning before on the second out on a 5-3 ground ball.
Jerry really working on the fundamentals.
lev: 3b looks better in boxscore than 2b.
ollie pitched well. much needed. brought his brain tonight.
THAT is the most important thing!
Ghost-lol
Beltran almost got caught trying to crossover during the second out with Delgado coming to the plate. Not good base running.
it’s all about concentration. more than any other pitcher, he has to do it by the numbers
Lev – They won!
Very good for Ollie to stretch it out. He didn’t have his best stuff yet but he threw strikes.
1,2,3, 1,2,3,1,2,3 . Ollie would be very good under Bobby V and the japanese Cha Cha
68 POINTS AGAINST THE KNICKS!
He DID look a little plumper!
I know Mets but it is bad base running nonetheless. It was a 1-1 game bottom seven when Beltran did it and 1-1 when Tatis did it in the bottom of the eighth. Every game is important this year. They can’t afford to give any away with stupid things on the bases.
Murphy had a big HR on an inside pitch. Hernandez getting a little ahead of himself comparing him to Rose and saying he’ll be the three hitter for years to come. Someone should let David Wright in on that.
You HAVE TO take five minutes from your life to watch this from beginning to end.
anybody just see the ad on sny for the forearm forklifts?
ghost out
I agree, bad base-running. I thought it to myself as well.
Nite fellas!
Shoe- He died way too young. You think that announcer got tired of saying “Pissssstollllll Pete”? Imagine if they had a three point line then ?
Mets- It’s not a knock, just an observation. The “sixth tool” (brains) is as important as the other five.
Pete Maravich played in The Southeastern conference against teams like Kentucky. he averaged 44 points a game, with NO SHOT CLOCK, and NO THREE-POINT FIELD GOAL!
Not enough?
Maravich was only allowed to play three years of college ball, because freshman were not eligible to play on the varsity team in the NCAA back then. Plus, they played a lot less games than they do now. He scored more points in 87 games than any player that played four years, and as many as 150 games.
In 87 games, Maravich scored 4,667 points with no shot clock, and no three-point line.
Second place on the points scored list? Freeman Williams – 3,249. But Freeman Williams played in ALL FOUR YEARS, and he played in 106 games. And Freeman Williams played for Portland State, a much weaker division that the Southeastern Conference that Maravich played in.
Players today have a shot clock, a three-point field goal line, and they play in almost twice as many games as Maravich did, yet that cannot come anywhere near Maravich’s point total.
