Yanks won a sloppy one. A.J. Burnett has earned a mulligan. The bats all contributed, every spot in the order had a hit, run, or RBI except catcher. Robbie Cano went yard for the third time this spring. Brett Gardner, BBT favorite, is finally named the Opening Day centerfielder. Today, it’s Andy Pettite vs. Toronto.
Mike Pelfrey didn’t get out of the first inning of a rainy one, Jerry Manuel pulled the starters after an hour rain delay. B-Squad left 19 runners on. A forgettable day. Today, it’s Oliver Perez against the Orioles.

Pistol Pete Maravich played in The Southeastern conference against teams like Kentucky. he averaged 44 points a game, with NO SHOT CLOCK, and NO THREE-POINT FIELD GOAL!
Not enough?
Maravich was only allowed to play three years of college ball, because freshman were not eligible to play on the varsity team in the NCAA back then. Plus, they played a lot less games than they do now. He scored more points in 87 games than any player that played four years, and as many as 150 games.
In 87 games, Maravich scored 4,667 points with no shot clock, and no three-point line.
Second place on the points scored list? Freeman Williams – 3,249. But Freeman Williams played in ALL FOUR YEARS, and he played in 106 games. And Freeman Williams played for Portland State, a much weaker division that the Southeastern Conference that Maravich played in.
Players today have a shot clock, a three-point field goal line, and they play in almost twice as many games as Maravich did, yet that cannot come anywhere near Maravich’s point total.
I’m convinced Shoe. He’s almost a forgotten man.
^^^^^ 3,667 points in 87 games, with no shot clock, and no three-point field goal line.
What are the Braves thinking? Where was he going?

JRZ: What part of the page do I click on for the photo galleries. Oriole fans need “special help.”
JRZ: I remember one time DENNIS called me “Fredo Gandil.” And one time, you called me “Gandil Fredo.” Which sounds better? Fredo Gandil, or Gandil Fredo?
Place looks phenomenal J.
I cant even find it.Its nothing I did, LB said he was gonna do something.
My bad, I just caught up.Joe, when you hit the link and the page comes up, the photo galleries are right near the middle.”photo galleries 1]2]3″
It does look good Levi, but only because they didnt have a shot of the outside martini bar, or is it “open air”, cant ramember.Did you tell me something about some front row seats that didnt have any leg room?
“Fredo408″….DUH
Not me J but I wouldn’t doubt it. I see them still trying to sell premium seats all over the place. I wonder if they’ll have tarp spread out over those seats like the Oakland Coliseum in the upper deck? haha
They played themselves out.The thing about it is that what happens this year doesnt matter. As the economy starts to make a come back they will make money. If they win they will make money. They may have to sell some seats for less than they wanted to this year but they will sell them.
The thing I love about the place is that you can tell it is going to feel like Yankee Stadium.
I am not old enough to have been in the original.I dont know and wont know til I get in there but it just doesnt feel that way to me.I wont say yea or nea until I have been in the place but right now I am not sold.I think that trying to make it feel like “Yankee Stadium” may have been a tough row to hoe, and might have been easier to go all new, but that never would have flown.
I meant the remodeled version. I don’t think they could make a modern ballpark look like the old one. The support columns just wouldn’t fly in a modern version. Miss the “batter’ eye” in the old bleachers out in center though.
That would never fly. They could have done that though and not ended up with as many obstructed view seats…HAHAHA
If they issue everybody a fedora upon entry can people sit out there again?
LOL- The facade is unmistakable though. Glad ST is just about done. Way too long because of the WBC nonsense. Good touch having the Cubs with Piniella in to christen it.
That should have been the condition for the Cubs games- Suits and fedoras required.
I am going to a Tampa Yankees game in a suit and fedora this season and keeping score…I just gotta get a suit and a fedora.
Fedora to sit in the batters eye and suit and fedora to attend Yankees v. Cubs is material worth stealing.Look for it some time leading up to or during the broadcast.
Ahead of the curve again.
Landry, Bear Bryant and Jrz.
But I will look better in mine.
You are all over this….
P.S. Jerry Manuel’s is on this page too.

Your Price: $274.99
I am all over it.Not right, but before next ST.Naw, sooner. That hat and a stoagie? Shit, the only thing that could make me feel more like an old time fan would be a racing form in my right rear pocket and a 1/2 pint of 4 Roses in my left.
Shoe if you are out there, I’m picturing you in the Derby Felt Men’s dress hat in Oriole orange and the key is the Oriole feather. That is the next You Tube clip. Maybe if you are the 50,000th post on BBT that’ll be your reward. They gift wrap too.
