Yanks winMets win.

Andy Pettitte had seven strikeouts versus a Jays lineup short Vernon Wells.  Mark Teixeira walked point, driving in the first and second Yankee runs.  Marte to Veras to WarRam closed it out. Today, it’s Joba Chamberlain versus the Reds.  Look out, Jonny Gomes.

Ollie Perez got his head together for six innings-plus of one-run ball.  Dan Murphy was again a catalyst; yesterday it was with a game-tying home run in the fourth inning.  J.J. Poo and Bobby Parnell closed out an all-around excellent pitched game.  Seeing quite a few games decided this spring on errors – in the field or on solitary pitches left up in the zone. Today, it’s John Maine versus the Marlins.

This month it’s a tie between Keith and Tommy for who motivates less.  Ollie Perez’s good showing yesterday actually motivated me, so I’m holding off on him.  That leaves the two luminaries:

  2. I got my eye on one of them red-headed Yolandas.

  3. Johnny Ola told me about this place.

  4. Mama had that on a minute ago.

  5. It’s on twice monthly.

  6. brewers vs. pads on mlb tv. Ryan Braun just took a liner off the forearm. Botched the play.

  7. Adrian Gonzalez looks strong.

  8. Sorry Bro, I am back.I talked to a guy today that said he is gonna log on before Sat or Sun and wants in on the Fantasy League.I told him to drop my name if I am not here.I am not sure what kind of fan he is, I think he played div. 2 or somethin.Young kid, like 24 maybe.

  9. Hey, visitors are always welcome. Especially if they ain’t scum-sucking journalists looking for a smaht thought.

  10. Naw, he is a good kid.Said he wants in, we will see.I dont know anything about this stuff, but I guess its full time.

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 10:32 pm
  11. I am really starting to dislike journalists.Even more than before.

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 10:33 pm
  12. The more I know, the worse I feel. Really, they are just guys who talk to guys. Who do you trust, that’s what it comes down to.

  13. At the end of the day, you trust your own eyes and your brain and not much else.

  14. Their disdain for the Yankees drives me nuts though. It goes back to what you said about wanting the Yankees to fail.Last year everybody was like, way to go tigers, get them players. If thats the Yankees they get hammered. The tigers took some shit last year but nowhere near what the Yankees would have taken.

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 10:43 pm
  15. Funny you say your own eyes and your own brain.I have said a bunch of times that I can pick out steroid users by using my eyes and common sense

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 10:46 pm
  16. The Tigers just outright suck. They’re gonna pay for years for what’s going down up there. They have been bleeding money and getting nothing for it.

  17. Magglio?

  18. I can see theo getting in on Magglio. We all know he feels like he is 30 HRs short.

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 10:48 pm
  19. What’s up, fellas. Gonzalez does look strong. You should draft him early.Don’t let him fall past the 2nd round.

  20. Sheff as a option to fill in for drew in boston?

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 10:50 pm
  21. whatta ya say Mac?

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 10:50 pm
  22. What’s up, jrz. I am sure Sheff would love to go to Boston. Green Monster and playing against the Yanks for the Sox. But, they just got rid of one malcontent.

  23. You should draft him early too. Third rounder. Do it!

  24. I am just speculating. This afternoon I had him in a mets uni.I am sure he would love to go there(bos) and I am sure they will have to replace drew for some part of the season.Sheff for the league min.?Shit, I might even take him back for that.

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 10:54 pm
  25. Sheff doesn’t play Red Sock ball. Can you imagine him taking shit from Kevin Youkilis? Me neither.

  26. I had him down for the Mets.

Alright fellas, I’m out. J, nice talking. Mac, nice seeing your typed digits alive and well.

  27. I don’t know. He is declining pretty quick. His arm is always good but his range has all but disappeared and he does that weird Statue of Liberty catch ever since he hurt his shoulder a few years back. He did come up as 3B. I remember that one game he played 3B for the Yanks in extra innings. It was pretty comical.

  28. 1 more thing. Was talking to a Detroit guy today, mentioned that he can’t throw the ball anymore because he can barely lift his arms over his shoulders, surgery was the culprit. That’s a thought. Mac, I thought he still could throw too but this dude tells me he’s done.

  29. I am always popping in, Lib. Just depends on how crazy things get. Have a good night Lib.

  30. Sheffield can’t throw anymore, not my friend. Later!

  31. There’s always a place, man!

  32. Bronx Brass Barracks!

  33. Mac, how ya feelin about Albaladejo instead of Giese or Tomko?

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 11:05 pm
  34. How long is Jobas leash? If he starts out 0-4 with a 5.00+ era, does he go to the pen and is Hughes the #5?

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 11:06 pm
  35. LIB, JRZ: Did you guys get a look at the first bona fide Red Sox fan at BUDDIO’S?

    coltsoriolesbullet March 31, 2009 at 11:08 pm
  36. I saw him Joe.Apparently Salduch has a few sox friends.Like he really has friends, or at least acquaintances, that are sox fans. Not me calling some random sox fan blogger Sals “friend” because he found Sals Blog.

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 11:10 pm
  37. I like the Albaladejo move. He is the best pitcher of the three. Tomko was pretty impressive, tho, but he is best as a starter. I think the Yanks retain his rights thru June so maybe he goes in a deal somewhere. Joba is a starter unless he has 12 bad starts in a row and balloons to 7-8era. Then I think he goes to AAA, not the pen because something is not right.

  38. Sally said let em have it though.I believe we can go to 7.5 on the harsh meter to start. We will see how they are built, then if they have thick skin, we play rough.

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 11:12 pm
  39. I am a Joba starts guy, I also dont see him starting 0-4 5.00+ either, just wondering what you thought if he has a rough start.
    Most needed player in April?
    1)Matsui
    2)Jeter
    3)Cano
    4)Posada
    5)Burnett

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 11:15 pm
  40. It wouldn’t be a bad thing to get some Sox fans who are normal here. The Met fans make things fun but they aren’t real division rivals.

  41. I would like a few “normal” ones.Ray1950…maybe even miz…NAW I cant do it.

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 11:19 pm
  42. Matsui. No question. He is the straw that stirs the drink. Now, who is the guy that gets dropped off the 40 man. Miranda or Giese? I think there might be a trade by opening day for Melky. I just smell it in the air.

  43. jrz, the correct answer is missing from the list …

  44. Rush Limbaugh is “threatening” to leave New York. OOOOOO. I’m shaking in my boots.

    coltsoriolesbullet March 31, 2009 at 11:23 pm
  45. Neither Giese or Miranda will net much unless they are part of a packageI think a move will be made also, but I wont lock in on one or 2 players. It wont be a blockbuster but might have some ML talent changing uniforms.
Native, Who ya got? Who do the Yankees need most in April?

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 11:24 pm
  46. You know the mysterious smell that keeps popping up in NY. I think that is Limbaugh.

  47. btw, jrz, what do YOU think of Abaladejo?

mac, I like your choice of Matsui. He’ll be in the cleanup slot. We need his bat to get the lineup going.

But the only true and correct choice is … the always popular ALL OF THE ABOVE!

  48. TMIZER is a cunt, JRZ. Besides, LIBERTY can’t stand when he obfuscates.

    coltsoriolesbullet March 31, 2009 at 11:25 pm
  49. I cut myself short, didnt I Joe?
Native, I like Albaladejo. He might just be getting a chance to make himself or another reliever available to trade. They have 4 or 5 guys in the SWB bullpen that would make just about any other Major League roster. There will be one reliever traded befor the deadline and at least 1 more at the deadline.

    jrzinbatonrouge March 31, 2009 at 11:28 pm
  50. I know you guys must have talked all about it by now, but I missed it. That is, what a BALLSY move by the Tigers, eating the $14M on Sheffield, knowing they had no spot for him really. I imagine they must have tried to trade him and the probable deafening silence they got in response told them all they needed to do. Anyone know, is this year part of the original Yankees contract or did he wiggle an extension out of ‘em after being traded that took him to age 40?
