The Yanks got hammered again by the Orioles. If it wasn’t for Brian Roberts politely getting thrown out on the basepaths, the damage would have been even worse. That’s all I have to say about that. The bats don’t look too bad, but the arms have to come around. CM Wang joins CC Sabathia on the growing list of Yankee starters without a strikeout – that’s not good. Wang was out over the plate the entire night, and the O’s simply teed off. Derek Jeter put one out. Today, it’s A.J. Burnett vs. Alfredo Simon.
Mike Pelfrey got the win versus the Reds, settling in for a 5-inning-outing after an awful four-run first. Carlos Delgado keyed the Met victory at the plate, driving in four runs. Everyone hit, except Luis Castillo, who also looked a little tight out in the field. The bullpen gave up three runs but the Mets bats did the damage by the seventh and Francisco Rodriguez came in for the save. Today it’s Ollie Perez vs. Bronson Arroyo.
Uncle Sal has the low-down on all the Boston nonsense, and some deep coverage of the games as well.

Why not let Pena hit for Jeter there? Unless Pena is going into the 2 hole for Damon with Pena to short and Cabrera to left.
He has a hold on Wang.
Why is Mariano getting loose?
Because he hasn’t thrown since last week
ahhhh
Whats up LB? You aint got somebody at BD that can find out when Big Al will be working out?
always nice to see first big league hit. congrats to young pena!
I can’t even get a beer off those guys.
OK, I guess I put a rainbow shirt on and go stand with the rest of the sugar filled papparazzi.
I cant picture it.
I’m doing my own speculation as to when he may come up to Trenton or SWB for live at-bats.
Swish…
Maybe I can borrow that shirt from Joba.
I know it’s a day game after a night game but hat’s off to Girardi for going with Swisher today to try and spark something.
Have a day Swish.
He has driven in 5 of the 11 runs.
Cano 3-4 2RBI and 4R
Really startin to like that glove.
I know its just 1 series
ortiz .222
drew .143
lowell .182
vartek .091
just sayen
Big performance from AJ today. That Huff k was huge.
They could us an Alfredo Simon.
use
Those are the 4 guys I am watchin.I have been saying they are all done since the end of last year.Lotsa experts say this is the best team in baseball.I say those 4 guys, that makeup up half of the sox lineup, are through.
yeah. little long in the tooth there. they might have to make a few more moves later in the year. variteks homer the other day was a cheapie.
J- You have been saying it all spring. I definitely agree with you on Varitek and I don’t think Poopi hits for avg again. Never a big fan of Drew because he’s always hurt. I haven’t given up on Lowell but he is 35 with a laundry list of injuries as well. That offense may look very old in a hurry.
BBT ahead of the curve.
Im pullen for Rays in this one. Percival needs three outs.
as varitek goes deep.
4-3. Let me play the reverse..GO SOX! ( see if that works)
The got the BBT on laptop in the dugout or what?
Kay is talking about 8 no-hit innings in a row out of the bullpen and he says “They are 1 inning away from a no hitter”. Where does he come up with this stuff?
Papi ’09=Giambi ’08
I like the comparison Mac
They never go against the shift and when their power dropped they became below average hitters.
ortiz up bottom 9 2 out down 1…red white and blue bunting(sp) on the fenway facades…
Bunting is what Ortiz should, right down the 3B line.
and the walk brings up youkapiss as the winning run
Percival wanted no part of Ortiz there. Everything away.
Yanks score 11 runs with a Ransom/Gardner/Molina as the bottom three. Baseball is a strange game.
youkapiss flies to center.game
They didnt go quietly. AL EAST is going to be an awesome race.
Chad Campbell is -9 at Augusta. WOW.
1-2. I ain’t excited. Yabba dabba.
Levi, do you think percival goes more straight ahead at ortiz if Manny is on deck?
You know Mac the bunting thing isn’t as bad an idea as it sounds. There were times last year where I found myself saying that about Delgado early when he was in a funk. I’m talking about down three runs, situations like that. When a team gives you a base take it when you aren’t going well. Mix things up. They all think they are Ted Williams hitting through the shift.
Giambi used to drive the ball into the left center field gap consistently and was one of the best hitters in the game. When he started yanking every pitch his avg plummeted. Oh well, he got his big contract and did hit 211 HR with the Yanks.
Manny doesn’t come to the plate as the winning run. Not unless Ortiz hit one out to tie it.
Campbell -8 now. If i were Mickey Rivers, I would have gone broke today.
On July 4, 2007 I was on the beach in Cape Cod and the Red Sox were up by 11 games on the Yanks give or take and all I heard was “What did the Yankees do today?”. Boston calls itself “The Hub” but all they are is a spoke. Remember that.
There are sox fans on TDN that say the Yankees arent rivals anymore and the rays are the #1 rivals…we will see.And I really like the spoke line, can I use it?
Hub of what?
Levi, I remember a couple of years ago Giambi finally laid down a bunt in a big spot and the runner on first made it all the way to third. If they would do it every so often then that shift would go away and their BA would go up. Makes no sense.
What’s up, fellas. Just getting back from a motorcycle jaunt down to the Keys. The weather was VERY cooperative. Unfortunately, can’t say the same about CC and Wang. Oh, well, WTF. At least AJ got it done and the rest of the team seems to be clicking, no?
Hope ya had a nice rip on the bike Native.Yep AJ looked very good today and the team seems to be hitting.I dont see many 3+ game losing streaks this year, got alot of guys that can step up and be stoppers.
