The Yanks got hammered again by the Orioles. If it wasn’t for Brian Roberts politely getting thrown out on the basepaths, the damage would have been even worse. That’s all I have to say about that. The bats don’t look too bad, but the arms have to come around. CM Wang joins CC Sabathia on the growing list of Yankee starters without a strikeout – that’s not good. Wang was out over the plate the entire night, and the O’s simply teed off. Derek Jeter put one out. Today, it’s A.J. Burnett vs. Alfredo Simon.
Mike Pelfrey got the win versus the Reds, settling in for a 5-inning-outing after an awful four-run first. Carlos Delgado keyed the Met victory at the plate, driving in four runs. Everyone hit, except Luis Castillo, who also looked a little tight out in the field. The bullpen gave up three runs but the Mets bats did the damage by the seventh and Francisco Rodriguez came in for the save. Today it’s Ollie Perez vs. Bronson Arroyo.
Uncle Sal has the low-down on all the Boston nonsense, and some deep coverage of the games as well.

Damn, hate to get morbid for a moment, but did any of you guys check out the story and pic in TDN on the Adenhart kid, the pitcher for the Angels? 22 year old rookie, hours after pitching six scoreless against the A’s, killed by a drunk (who had multiple priors for dui) running a red at 50-60.. His car was demolished. F*** !!!
Whew!!! On a lighter note, jrz, I’m with you on the Red Sox’ decline of key guys. Varitek and Ortiz in particular. Their fans can talk all the crap they want … I see third place for them this season, and if Shoe’s guys come through, maybe … could it be … dare we say … FOURTH??? I would LOVE to see it!!!

Nat- Welcome back
Mas- I remember that game. All it takes is a couple of times and the field will open up again.
Carl Pavano’s debut as a starter for the Indians … 1 IP, 6 H, 9 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, ERA 81.00. You cannot make this stuff up!
Nat- ugly huh?
We were talking about that earlier. Pavano just went on the DL with whiplash.
He’s enjoying his time with the Indians- It’s a much more “relaxed atmosphere”.
Wait till they are looking for him outside The Jake with pitchforks.
Texas scored 29 runs in 3 games. Nice pitching from the Indians.
Goodness, gracious!. Just watching the game between Giants and Brewers and saw that line drive that Giants pitcher Joe Martinez took flush on his forehead. Oh, man … his legs buckled out from under him like he was hit by a heavyweight punch. Hope the guy’s OK.
Lev … whiplash, LOL.
OK, The O’s lost. I’m back.
