Yanks winMets win.

Big win for the Yanks, Andy Pettitte went deep and only Brian Bruney (used twice) and Mariano Rivera (used once) have made appearances since Tuesday – so the pen is rested coming home to the Bronx.

Mets hammered down the Padres, with a little help from the Padres themselves.  First win ever in the new digs.

Getting my camera charged up for a jaunt to the New Stadium.  Any requests?

  1. who’s taking jabs @ Murphy? Kev your whole m. o. is taking jabs @ Yankee players. I’m mean excuse me if I don’t think…after 162 career ABs…that Dan Murphy is the 2nd coming of Stan Musial.

  2. What’s up Unk.Hard to knock the Say Hey kid in any regard, but I’ve seen catches that could at least be in the same convo, but he’s Willie Mays.Keith was pretty tough, but I don’t think he ever closed the deal with Elaine.Murph’s gonna be fine.

  3. kev i bet to a man we all like murphy as a hitter/player, and he plays the game the right way, but I think it’s good conversation debating his defense. Now those mooks in the morning on FAN they were taking jabs at him. I’d take murphy in a minute, but then again he’d be my DH this year

  4. well said sal for example I love Joba’s potential but I’m not willing to annoit him the next Bob Gibson just yet.

  5. Agreed supe It’s fun having guys with as much potential as Joba and Murphy in town

  6. true dat Sally!

  7. Unk,I’m thinking Bruney is gonna pay off in silver dollars this year.A nice finish last year, and follows it up by getting in great shape, and reporting to camp with a new attitude as well.Don’t want to get too crazy, but this team is built to kick ass.Everybody gets/stays healthy, and they’ll repeat the opening year in the original cathedral.Ah what the hell, maybe I will get too crazy.

  8. Murphy isnt a good LF. Yet. He’s 23. He makes up for it at the plate and on the basepaths. Danny Hustle. LETS GO METS!

  9. GDY how are you bro…long time no speak. I think this team showed some moxie going 5-4 on a 9 game season opening road trip, Wang’s 2 miserable starts aside. Already a grittier team than last year’s IMO.

  10. What’s up Sup.I’m gearing up for an opening day bash.A high holy day with me and my crew,as with everyone else.Didn’t score any seats so it’s plan B.A blowout party.Like you said, with Wang’s two miserable starts and CC’s one, this team really showed some balls coming home in the shape they did.If they can continue the hot start,it’s gonna be a different stretch run.The hunted has become the hunter. Also loved AJ’s answer to Garza.

  11. GDY good point I forgot about the egg CC laid in Baltimore. It sucks I gotta work but I’ll be peeking @ the score from time to time & probably watch the replay on YES tonight. Also loved Swisher’s anser to Garza.

  12. That too,Longoria must’ve misunderstood the question. It’s all good Sup,sorry you got to work, and hope you get to check some of it out. There’s lots more to come.A good opening day to you,Bud’s,LB,JRZ,and the whole crew.Heading south with my designated driver.Should be fun, enjoy.

  13. GDY throw back a couple for me if you wouldn’t mind :)

  14. David Cone – Met or Yankee? I used to think Met but since he loves Yankees so much, he’s all yours.

  15. Not a problem Sup.Catch up later.

    giantdamnyankee April 16, 2009 at 11:38 am
  16. David Cone? Blue Jay.

  17. GDY – Bring the spare leg/liver and enjoy opening day!

  18. If the Mets win like they should have in ’88 and the season didn’t go up Gooden’s nose David Cone – Met. He was 20-3 that year. The forgotten season.

  19. Although his 20-7 1998 wasn’t too shabby either.

  20. Levi – Yeah. If he wants to be a Yankee, thats fine. Yanks can have him.

  21. I think Cone loves who pays him.

  22. Well he is definitely looking at the world through navy blue colored glasses these days.

  23. I’d love to stay and play but I’m having problems seeing any new comments. I don’t have the patience for WordPress today. See Ya

  24. Mickey Rivers is wearing Jrz’s fedora

  25. Play Ball

  26. Kev just saw your enlightening post on Feinsan’d DN article “The House George Built”. You’re hyprocrisy is legendary! As if the Wilpons didn’t take taxpayer $$ to help fund Bailout Park. Your unwavering subjectivity is commendable.

  27. Mickeys hat was sharp as a tack, but kelly clarkson????whats a matter, was hanna montana all booked up?

  28. Dig up Robert Merrill.

    John Madden Retires:

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9462768/Boom!-Madden-announces-retirement-from-booth

  29. Play Ball. Let’s Go.

  30. Supe – What hypocrisy? Mets took taxpayers money too. Difference is, we admit it. House That George Built is a farce. Nice park though. Im jealous of that sweet screen in CF.

  31. yup no more Madden…hey the story no one’s talking about: Sabbathia making his first start against the team that traded him away last season. I wonder if any reporter covering this game had the foresight to ask CC his feelings on pitching his first game against the Tribe.

  32. jrz – if ya ever take the old man up north, ya gotta treat him to one of those leather jackets.

  33. Kev did the Yankee suits ever publicly admit they didn’t take taxpayer dough? If that indeed is the case than they need to be called on it. Blast you all I’m @ work slaving over a hot computer while you’re watching the game. Ach!

  34. The Met leather jacket has the Domino’s patch on the sleeve.

  35. Levi – Who signed off on that patch? If that was a Trump challenge, the group leader would be fired.

  36. Well, CC didnt fall down or give up a bomb. So, I guess so far so good.

  37. “Jeff Wilpon; Your’re fired!”

Nice touch with Ruth’s bat. Matsui held it in the dugout and said “Wow”.

All I want to know is, when does the apple pop up?

  38. I dont like the new yankee stadium. maybe its the weak crowd today in the pricey seats and it will get better in time.

  39. Where’s the Shake Shack?

  40. beautiful day out there. LB must be in heaven.

  41. Where was DeRosa going on that? He rounded second base and Cano didn’t even decoy there. More bad base running.

  42. apparently no one told Veras he needs to try & get someone out.

  43. Someone stop the bleeding.

  44. looks like this game’s just about ready to go south BIG time…

  45. Ouch- talk about a meltdown.

  46. “Swisher… We need you”

  47. SOUTH has arrived, courtesy of Grady Sizemore.

  48. Levi how does the new place look w/ everybody filing out @ simultaneously?

  49. The guy threw the first-ever grand slam at The New Yankee Stadium back onto the field, because an Indian hit it?
How much money did he just throw away?
