Yanks to Bypass Wang for Series in Boston

This, according to Bryan Hoch of yankees.com:

“The biggest thing is that we get him right,” [manager Joe] Girardi said. “That’s the bottom line, we’ve got to get this guy right. He’s too good of a pitcher to pitch the way he’s pitched these three games.”

“The confidence is still there,” Wang said through an interpreter. “I know what I can do. I just haven’t pitched up to my ability yet. Hopefully I can get my groove right.”

Andy Pettitte, whose Monday start was pushed back by rain, will start on Tuesday versus Oakland.  CC Sabathia will face the A’s on Wednesday.  After an off-day on Thursday, the rotation versus Boston for the weekend will be Joba Chamberlain, A.J. Burnett, and Andy Pettitte.

The Yanks are in a bit of a bind with their struggling sinkerballer righty.  He is out of options, and the Yanks are forced to keep him with the big league club or else face the near certainty of losing him in waivers.

Wang has given up 23 runs on 23 hits in six innings over three starts this season.

Also, scores are up.

Use the “Bronx Brass Classic” link in the “pages” section on the right.

The columns on the individual team scores are little screwy, they are in order but the offset happened when I uploaded them to Google Pages.  In English, nothing I can do about it.  The numbers are correct, it just looks stoopid.

Nate McLouth’s numbers aren’t appearing.  When I figure that out I’ll post the update, probably just have his name wrong.  Also, I have to watch that the worksheet I use pulls the numbers for the correct LaRoche.

  3. dungarees, HAHAHA

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:38 pm
  4. And they weren’t stirrups, they were “your special socks”. I can hear every one of their mothers saying, “Jeffrey forgot his special socks today”. I can just see my father shaking his head.

  5. …no no I’m pissy now. These kids didn’t know a force from a tag. 12 years old American boy should know that better than the 10 commandments.

  6. special socks…cant make it up, HAHAHAHA

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:42 pm
  7. The pants back then only came down to right below the knee and there was nothing dumber lookin than a kid without stirrups on.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:44 pm
  8. AND, “tennis shoes” just completed the stooooopid look.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:44 pm
  9. I used to love watching my father breaking these kids in, making them get dirty in practice, coming home with skinned up arms from diving drills getting the lead off first and all bruised from sliding drills at home with those ditches that passed for batter’s boxes, then watching the moms look at my father like he was some sort of cult leader when the picked up their exhausted, dusty, bleeding children. Loved it.

  10. Those were the days. Alright later, J, have a good one all.

  11. Origin of Stirrups-hahahahaha

I can’t believe that there are organizations going back to them J. Did you see Outman today? Their day is done. They look ridiculous. Let’s move on.

  12. The hole in the RH batters box was easily 6-8″ deep.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:49 pm
  13. Honestly Levi, I like the look.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:49 pm
  14. WTF WAS THAT!?!?!?

  15. How the FUCK dont you slide there?????!@?!?!?!?!?!!? and where the FUCK was the on deck hitter?

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:51 pm
  16. Does Carlos Beltran realize that games against the Cardinals count?

  17. Yankees lucky to get the game in tonight. It’s like the end of the world here now.

Maybe that’s why Beltran didn’t F**KIN SLIDE ON A PLAY AT THE PLATE.

  18. WOW, bad to worse and Murphy may officially be a worse LFer than Damon.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:54 pm
  19. They count Carlos.

Bases loaded and 2 strikes you swing.

Play at the plate you slide.

He must have been playing golf with Murphy when Jerry was going over the “little things”.

  20. Maybe the mets can trade Putz for Yu Darvish

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:55 pm
  21. Murphy does have a stronger arm…no more accurate but stronger.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 10:59 pm
  22. I said it before and I’ll say it again-DANIEL MURPHY WILL COST THEM MORE GAMES THAN HE WILL WIN THEM!!!

You can’t hide guys on a major league field!!!

Tonight will be 7 losses and he has been the major cause of 2 of them.

Enough of this experiment, STOP THE PAIN.

  23. Levi, you want sheff out there?

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 11:14 pm
  24. I will take Sheff, Tatis, or Reed over Murphy. If Murphy was going to hit 30 home runs and drive in 100 for you, maybe you put up with it.

If he knew who to throw the ball to on a play to the plate, maybe I’d put up with him.

If he didn’t get picked off by the catcher and generally do stupid f***en things maybe I’d put up with him.

This experiment has to end now.

  25. Tough to learn on the job, especially on a brightly lit stage.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 11:25 pm
  26. Sal- If you didn’t believe me when I said Damon over Murphy, I hope you do now.

  27. I guess the Murphy/Rose comparisons will ease up now.

  28. Mac, were you dizzy after talking to MSalles today?

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 11:28 pm
  29. You don’t learn on the major league level. You can mature but there is a very big difference. This guy is Gregg Jefferies all over….. I take that back. He’s not even as good a hitter as Jefferies was at this point.

If I hear Hernandez with 1 more comparison to Rose I am going to throw up.

  30. Jrz, anytime spent talking to Msalles is quality entertainment. I am dying to get him over here. How great is the idea to bring Yu Darvish in for $100mm to pitch the 7th inning. And hearing him talk about “Shawn” Figgins and Ian “Keslar” is just hilarious. I laugh out loud every time.

  31. I know Murph is frustrating the hell out of you, Levi. But, Beltran has to slide there. What is he thinking? Big night for F-Mart against SWB. He might be a better option out there right now. Can Castillo play LF?

  32. Levi, I just caught Gardners catch on Giambi tonight, hopefully he is getting better at going back.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 11:34 pm
  33. Let’s not forget Jerry friggin Manuel. This team was “going to do the little things right”.

They can’t bunt, they don’t slide into bases when there is a play on, they walk runs in with the bases loaded, throw to the wrong cutoff man, catcher’s interference,on and on and on and Jerry keeps jivin.

  34. Mac, he drives me up a EFFIN wall.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 11:36 pm
  35. Jerry is talking about Murph like he is Dora the Explorer out in LF. “Keep him out there. He is seeing new parks, new places”

  36. I know, jrz. every time he writes a post you just can’t believe he said what he just said. You think it has to be a goof and you just want to see what he says next. He can’t be for real.

  37. I already had a Beltran rant. Beltran hits 30 HR and drives in 110 runs a year and he plays a great CF. He does a lot of stupid things and that was one of them tonight but I’ll move on because he has a big league resume.

    FMart isn’t ready.

Dora the F**KEN Butcher is more like it!

  38. Honestly, my 16 year old daughter can have a more intelligent conversation about baseball than MSalles.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 11:40 pm
  39. I thought the same thing about him being a goof over a year ago.If he is, which I dont think he is, he is dedicated.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 11:41 pm
  40. Dora the Butcher….BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    jrzinbatonrouge April 21, 2009 at 11:42 pm
  41. Dedicated-lol

The Mets really screwed this kid and that is the worst part. Jerry gives him a job that he had no business having on the basis of 130 ab’s. Now what? How do you take it away from him after 13 games? You can’t because he’s hitting .320

Shocking, the Mets screwed the pooch again.

  42. We have to get him in here. For something like a weekly appearance. Just for the entertainment value.
I hear you, Levi. I would take Beltran in CF in a heart beat. I would love to have Murph covering 3B while Alex heals. But, you can’t have him continue to lose games for you out there. There is just no place for you to put the guy.

  43. Listen- I like Murphy a lot actually. I think he is going to be a very good hitter. All of this was about deflecting Manny talk plain and simple. If there is anyone out there who doesn’t believe it then the Mets will be calling to sell you some good seats behind the plate. Manny was out there and the talk was getting loud. “Murphy is my left fielder”. Jerry said it definitively so that there was no question that this kid was the guy. Now he looks like my 5 year old when he falls off his bike. What a shame.

  44. Oh yeah, that was obvious. Manny was sitting out there almost begging for one of the NY teams to make him an offer. You had marches taking place to sign him. Maybe that is why Hernandez and co. keep making the comaprison to Rose. Who would you rather have, Manny or Rose? Hopefully he spends every waking minute practicing balls hit to him in LF. I like the kid, I hope he makes it. Alright, Rescue Me and be for me. Have a good night guys.

  45. There was one reason to hand this kid the job. Left field could have been a platoon with Tatis. Ahh, but that would have had talk radio going bat sh*t about a platoon when Manny is still out skulking around. “We have a left fielder.” BS, you have a kid who is a DH and may with some practice become a 1B when Delgado is done. I would say a second baseman but Castillo isn’t going anywhere and neither is Wright.

  46. I like the kid too and he seems like a guy who is putting in the work but if you don’t know where to throw the ball on a play to the plate, you are lost. I don’t care what position you used to play. He used to play third for crying out loud and he doesn’t know where to throw it? He just said after the game that he is trying to “slow the game down”. It’s too bad because he is ready to hit, he just doesn’t have a position.

  47. Have a good one Mac.

  48. Ike davis may have something to say about Murphy at 1st.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 22, 2009 at 12:02 am
  49. 10-3, O’s win. BRADLEY ANTHONY BERGESEN became the first of “The Big Nine” to make his Oriole debut in the majors. 5 and two-thirds innings, only one earned run.
    THE BIG NINE:
    Brad Bergesen
    Jason Berken
    David Hernandez
    Chris Tillman
    Jake Arrieta
    Chorye Spoone
    Brandon Erbe
