Alex Rodriguez On His Way Home

Peter Abraham says so.  Hey Big Al, if you pass by the dairy on your way in, do me a favor and pick up a gallon of milk and coaching staff.

Comments

  1. CC – no run support. The Yanks are limping without ARod or until Tex heats up. That won’t come with Matsui hitting behind him.

Burnett stopped slides twice so far this year, he gets a bye on the third time. BFD

Mo – you don’t bring in Mo there. I don’t know how else to explain it to you. Sign language? Uwee dun bween mo dare.

Wang – do you know what’s wrong with wang? I don’t. Wang doesn’t, apparently, but there he is on the DL. I don’t know what’s up there.

Chamberlain most certainly WILL go deep into games.

I know you’re feeling strong right now, Wright is hitting triples to the big black apple basket and with Maine to JJ Poo to KROD coming through.

  2. Mo had a 2 run lead in the ninth. His job is to close the game in Boston regardless of what his offense did or didn’t do before the game gets to that spot. He didn’t do it. He isn’t just anyone out there- he is the greatest closer in history and he’s making a habit of blowing games against them.

How did the first game have any bearing at all on Burnett blowing a 6 run lead?

  3. the sox were on a 6 game winning streak and a loss on friday brings them back down to earth.Instead they are in the stratasphere because they beat the Yankees and there HOF closer.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 9:37 pm
  4. Lib- Chamberlain WILL NOT GO DEEP IN GAMES because he goes deep in too many counts.

Gossage would have spit on 4 outs yet this guy is so fragile that you can’t bring him in for 4?

Lib- I said from his first outing what Wang has been doing and Eiland saw it and had him throw live BP between starts to work on it. He has to do it.

The Mets have nothing to do with it. I’ve been critical of their act all month across the board. Yesterday I said Beltran should have been benched for not sliding on a friggin steal, and I don’t care what he is hitting. I’m not feeling strong about the Mets LIB. One team has nothing to do with the other.

  5. Levi, maybe you are right on point with your analysis AND maybe I am just too emotionally invested to look at it objectivly.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 9:44 pm
  6. Lev, I screamed my head off, uncharacteristically, when Girardi farted the porch versus the A’s and lo and behold they get swept by the Sox. Who are you trying to convince, and what are you trying to convince them of?

Notice I was on no yippie skippy rainbow walkoff bandwagon. In fact I got the walkoffs are GAY bandwagon together, thumping drums and tooting horns, because the whole thing was effed and I saw how close the team was to collapse. 50 runs and 3 games dropped to the chief division rival, I’m doing yoga I’m patting myself on the back so thouroughly.

  7. Levi, he can get 4 outs…just not 4 outs in April in fenway.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 9:45 pm
  8. Mo is 78 years old. THis is why you don’t make him make sudden movements out of his routine. 1 inning for the save. You’ve put the org on his shoulders and he’s carried it over stretches. 1 inning for the save. Take the Buick out on Sundays and to the Piggy Wiggly out on Thursday. The guy’s an antique, obviously. Albaladejo was rolling and you yank him on a 0-1 count. Sensible? You tell me.

Joba will go deep into pitch counts. That’s what we are discussing. You said no he won’t, I said yes he will.

  9. Been watching Mo for the latest of his years. He has one or two years left in him. I don’t see why Girardi insists on grinding gears. He has a square mentality and if the it has to fit a round hole, we get swept out. this whole team is playing like a corporate flowchart. If it’s not Girardi, it’s the coaches or it’s the owners.

  10. despite the loss perhaps tonight was a turning point for the starting staff. But I say thsi to you fine gentlemen: 2 runs the last 2 games won’t cut it…I hate to say it but this line up is Verne Troyer short w/ no A Rod.

  11. This is what I love about this site. The fact that we can even have this discussion without all the asshole haters jumping all over us for discussing Yankee problems.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 9:57 pm
  12. J- I’m not happy about their record but the team they have put on the field so far hasn’t scared anyone. Ransom and Gardner were terrible for 3 weeks. Matsui and Damon have looked very old. Jeter has had a couple of big HR but has he been that good? Cano is the only guy who is doing anything with the stick.

I’d give Al 4 at bats in Trenton and get him back in the lineup.

Lib- I think you have gone off the deep end. Most of their losses haven’t even been close. And even when they were close, how many of them made you feel like they were really in it?

  13. Supe, the lineup gets MUCH longer with Big Al in there and I hope you are right about a turning point because we have Hughes and Joba going the next 2 days.Hughes needs to give them a strong outing tomorrow.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 9:59 pm
  14. Levi, April is almost a memory and Tex historically puts the pedal to the metal.Couple that with him having Big Al behind him and the lineup will scare alot of pitchers.Especially with Robbie behind Al.They have had alot of injuries already and as trhey come back hopefully things will start to fall into place.I think Bruney being outhas hamstrung girardi more than people realize.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:03 pm
  15. AND, I think Jeter has been Jeter.I got no complaint there.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:04 pm
  16. I’m sorry Lev, evidently you’ve never thrown a shoe at the TV. I forgot the company I was in. Let me reel myself back in. I enjoy ceding three games in the standings to the Sox. Did you see that walkoff versus the A’s? What a victory over that vaunted Oak-Land franchise!

So, what you’re saying is that no one can win with this team, that it’s the players.

  17. J- Normally I would agree with you about beating them that first game and stopping the 6 game streak but when you get out to a 6 run lead, you have to win the game. The Red Sox always feel like they are in every game. They don’t play scared. This Yankee team doesn’t show that they believe they can hold a 6 run lead. It’s time for someone to stand up and take charge.

Jeter and Posada have to find a new hook to hang their hats on. Four championships eight years ago is not it. They are leaders so start leading.

Cano has to move into the 3 slot until Al gets back. If he takes to it, hit A Rod 4 and Tex five for awhile. Tex is going to hit, it’s just unfortunate that A Rod hasn’t been around to pick him up. No one has picked anyone up, except Cano.

  18. AND, I agree that Damon and Matsui have looked old.I expected that from Hideki but not so much from Damon.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:04 pm
  19. Well jrz we got the full compliment of the bullpen to back up Hughesy. I gotta sneaking susspicion the kid’s gonna do well tomorrow. Would help if the Yanks could jump on Jackson early tomorrow & give the kid a lead.

  20. Girardi manages nervously. He grinds his teeth and checks his clipboard. He sets that tone. Jeter looks loose, Cano looks loose, Swish looks loose, Posada looks loyal, Damon looks like Damon.

  21. Jeter looks fine out there. Every win he’s right in the middle of. I don’t know what you want him to do more. Be Reyes? apples and oranges.

  22. If they dont cough up the game Friday night maybe the sox arent feeling as strong down 6 on Saturday. You say the sox never feel like they are out of it.I put that on francona and his game preperation and demeanor.I just dont see those things as strengths for girardi.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:08 pm
  23. I am not a Girardi fan but he can win with this team.

He has lost A Rod, Bruney and Nady and don’t underestimate what Nady going down has meant.

This starting rotation matches up with anyone including the Red Sox. It’s unfortunate that CC has had his typical April, Wang has been terrible and Burnett has to stop the bleeding so far every start. That won’t last. There is too much talent in those five.

Posada has to hit everyday. The lineup is too weak without him in it especially with Al out.

  24. Francona is in the dugout with his players. Girardi is in the dugout alone. That’s the difference.

  25. at some point if the Yanks remain in this malaise you have to seriously question whether Girardi is the right manager for this team. I mean if we’re on the cusp of memorial day & this team is still hovering around .500 then we could be in some serious trouble becaause that’s a pretty tough schedule they have in June.

  26. I think the injuries are bad, yes, but you still have to manage to win. I feel like Girardi has tossed a lot out the window. Don’t know if it’s exasperation or what it is. There’s something there though.

  27. The Red Sox got over their curse and they don’t fear anyone. Pedroia and Youklis only know winning. It’s a little like Jeter his first couple of years.

Lib- again with the Mets. Yesterday on this site I said they have no killer instinct. Please stop bringing up the Mets. I have my own issues with them and I’ve spelled them all out. Yesterday I called Murphy “Sweeney Murphy- The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”, so please, we are talking about the Yanks.

  28. wait wait shhhh Joe Girardi show repeat. I missed this. Joe G. saying there’s weakness in Wang’s right leg. Voodoo hip flexor weakness, push off problems.

  29. Correction-Youkilis

  30. Yes, these Sox only know winning and you can’t just give up games to them.

  31. demon barber…HAHAHA

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:17 pm
  32. LEv, I just don’t know what you expect from Jeter. Anyone watching his every at bat in every game sees that he seems to bat .400 when the game needs to turn over.

  33. Stata buon boys…see you tomorrow. May all your pain be champagne.

  34. You can’t DL a guy for whiplash when he hasn’t been in an accident. It also tells Wang, “Hey we found something wrong with you and we’ll rehab your hip abductors and everything will be fine”- Please, “weak hip abductors” my hip abductors.

  35. JOHN MAINE – 6 IP, 0 earned runs, gets his first win of the season

    coltsoriolesbullet April 27, 2009 at 10:18 pm
  36. The Florida Marlins are now 0-7 since they stopped playing The Washington Generals.

    coltsoriolesbullet April 27, 2009 at 10:19 pm
  37. Levi, you are still wrong after the correction. Its just plain piss…On another note, I am positive that I have seen Jeter taking a pill in the dugout twice before taking the field in the middle of the game in the last 4 days.Anybody see that Romero is suing a supplement company?

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:19 pm
  38. Maine had a great outing.

I don’t care if they diagnose him with dengue fever, if he can’t get out of the first inning, pull him and start over. Girardi just grinds gears out there.

  39. whiplash and hasnt been in an accident…HAHAHAHAHAHAH

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:21 pm
  40. what’s the over/under on how much money Sabathia will make regarding the number of outs that he gets this season? $23 Million a year. I say he winds up making $55,000 per out….
“Jeter throws to first… $55,000 for Sabathia!”

    coltsoriolesbullet April 27, 2009 at 10:23 pm
  41. alright nuts in a jar time. it’s been real. Lev, you always give me too much to think about.

  42. Listen- I love Derek Jeter. He is a Hall of Famer, a Champion and a true professional. I am not in the clubhouse with him but the way he leads is rubbing off on guys who don’t have his resume. If they all played like Jeter it would be great but they don’t. So they all walk around the field with no emotion and look like they don’t give a damn about what is going on. I will fault Girardi for that too. That 90′s Yankee approach worked because you had professionals who knew what it took and did it. There is no fire there. Posada gives you the emotion. Swisher looks like he enjoys playing the game at least. Burnett gets fired up but what has he won. Wasn’t he on the DL all year when the Marlins won in ’03?

  43. J- I haven’t seen that but even if it is just ADVIL, it isn’t good in April to see him taking anything.

  44. TEx plays with fire. Cano is smooth when he’s on his game. That means he’s there. Jorge is old. Loyal, intense, old.

  45. Funny you say that about guys adopting Jeters attitude and demeanor.I have thought that about Robbie.Luckily he seems to be over that, not nearly as many smiles so far this year.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:30 pm
  46. It’s E. He’s trying to get Girardi to open up.

  47. Levi, maybe I am buggin about the pills but i am sure I have seen him throw something in his mouth and follow it with a mouthful of water…could just be gum but it was definitely followed by some water.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:32 pm
  48. E…tee hee, joe is gonna need a double stack.

    jrzinbatonrouge April 27, 2009 at 10:33 pm
  49. You know why I like Church? The guy is never going to hit 30 HR , probably never drive in 100 but he busts his a$$ on the field all the time and he gives you an at bat. The kid is a ballplayer and I thought Minaya made a helluva trade to get him. They are making a big mistake jerking him around but it fuels him. He said yesterday he goes out everyday to prove his doubters wrong. I’ll take nine guys like that every game instead of guys who hit 40 HR and drive in 125 but make up stories as to why they don’t slide at second on a steal and at home with a play on them.

  50. Paulie was like a .250 lifetime hitter when he got to NY and busted his ass everyday to become the .300+ hitter he became.I got nothing but respect for guys like that.
