Yanks Finally Playing Some Good Ball

Yanks win.  Happy May.

A.J. Burnett went seven deep, gave up four, I’ll take it.  Phil Coke and Mo finished it off.  Gotta love Coke, not just a lefty but a lefty that can get outs versus righties.  Ramiro Pena had himself a double and two RBIs.

Rays win.  I don’t know what’s the bigger story, Matt Garza going 7 2/3 innings, one walk, one hit, ten strikeouts, or the Sox getting buried 13-0.

Cards win AGAIN.

Raissman reflects on the cuddly Jerry Manuel.  We talked about it yesterday.  Ahead of the curve.

  2. JRZ,was it Big Poopi?

  3. Jermaine Dye diving catch cost Kinsler his second hit

  4. Supe- I don’t know what he was thinking. He had the whole play in front of him.

  5. Chipper .380 lifetime against Hampton and he takes the collar. He’s killing me.

  6. Mauer comes back 2-2 2b,HR 1bb so far.

  7. I took Robbie the last 2 days and he had 1 hit each night.I dont take him tonight and he gets 2.

  8. I bet black for 6 spins in a row in AC one night and red came up each time and I walked away and black came up…..just my luck.

  9. Jeter can EFF up a big inning like I can EFF up a great drive.

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:14 pm
  10. we both hit grounders.

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:16 pm
  11. I can hit the ball 280 off the tee and then hit the ball 30 yds on the ground off the sole of my wedge.

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:18 pm
  12. J- I hit a drive once 300 yards, honest to God, on a par 4 and wound up with a 6.

I went to Vegas playing roulette-2 numbers. I turned over my shoulder to the table behind me and my 2 numbers were all over the board at least 5 times.

    The Ruiner.

  13. LOL, Me too brother…it aint just you.

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:26 pm
  14. Talk about not knowing where your fielders are!

  15. My buddy just said the same thing but you cant get thrown out at the plate.

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:35 pm
  16. Thats RIGHT BABY

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:35 pm
  17. How do the Angels feel about not paying Frankie now?

  18. Good job Jorge!!!

  19. Agreed not getting thrown out at plate after he froze J.

That’s a great comeback by the offense to pick up the pitching but that was ugly. Big W.

  20. Posada-Cano 5-9 4 runs 5 rbi

  21. wooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo! All started w/ a lead off walk by Tex.

  22. I dont think Tex scores if he runs hard off the crack there but I agree he should have known that ball was gonna get thru.

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:41 pm
  23. He’s gotta do something Supe.

  24. Levi as Kay pointed out on the broadcast he’s not hitting a lick right now but is taking his walks…none bigger on this young season than the one he just drew to lead off the bottom of the 9th.

  25. I don’t think they necessarily send him either but you have to at least give the third base coach a decision. No Harm-better than getting doubled up.

BTW- Left handed “specialist” Feliciano gave a HR up to Utley.

  26. Levi, didnt you have longoria hitting a big HR in the 6th to put the Rays up?

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:46 pm
  27. It’s amazing that he is hitting 100 points lower than Wright and 60 points lower than his career April avg. and no one there is talking about moving him in the order. Pencil him in everyday in the same spot. Girardi is dead on with that at least. I wish I could say the same about Manuel.

  28. I know enough not to play roulette anymore.

  29. J-I think I did. 6th or 7th to go up 4-3 I think. Close enough.

  30. He did it in the 5th…..dont you know anything

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:48 pm
  31. The Yankees gotta find the right mix in the bullpen if they wanna make a serious run.I think they have the personnel, they just need to get the right guys in at the right time.Veras and Marte make me real nervous.

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:50 pm
  32. well I think everybody knows he’s a notoriously slow starter w/ the stick. Maybe this walk which did eventually lead to the tying run might be the key (mentally) that unlocks the door. And hats off to the kid @ 3B…this would be a different conversation if not for his clutch hitting in the 8th. But as Burnett did in Boston Pet unraveled in a NY minute in the 6th…very disconcerting.

  33. LOL

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:51 pm
  34. J- WordPress is jumbling the comments. I posted that after you said he did it in the fifth. That happened to Lib earlier.

  35. I had A. Hill (3 hits) M. Cabrera (2 hits) & Fukudome doesn’t play for the Cubs.

  36. I figured it out.

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:58 pm
  37. Supe- I wouldn’t worry about Tex. Just as I am not worried about Wright. Yet everyone in Metsland is apoplectic about him. He is a career .230 hitter in April with risp. Yet he loses the 3 hole to Daniel Murphy who has barely had a cup of coffee.

I still think he won “Who wants to be a Met for a Year?”.

  38. and was just breakin your balls when I said dont you know anything but I am sure you got that

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 10:59 pm
  39. Halladay= 5-1 on May 1st

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 11:00 pm
  40. I had Granderson (2 h), Wright (2 h) and Chipper, .380 lifetime against Hampton and he spits the bit on me.

Lib has us playing this game that is worse than the 3% chance he gave us.

  41. J- I got it and figured you so the reply was out of order to.

    Santana 5-0 May 1

  42. Oh wait, Santana is 3-1 because they have the Demon Barber/Butcher playing left field and a bullpen that has blown 8 wins in 39 starts.

    Murphy-DBIB= Demon Barber Irish Butcher

  43. Levi, santana is 3-1

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 11:05 pm
  44. And Levi obviously the spotlight’s that much hotter on Wright because the Mets have been playing some crummy ball as of late. Like we siad last night we’ll chuckle about it in September when he’s like .300+ BA, 30+ jax, 100+ ribs.

  45. The Indian posters on MLB were complaining about Dellucci coming up for the always injured Hafner and he goes 4-5 tonight.

  46. LOL….I knew you were up to somethin

    jrzinbatonrouge May 1, 2009 at 11:06 pm
  47. I think you are Wright (tee hee) Supe. I would hate to see a kid who has done as much as he has at the age of 26 get run out of town by a blowhard.

  48. I don’t see him hitting 30 though after watching Citi play. It is ridiculously big. Delgado might hit 30 but I don’t see Wright and Beltran doing it. They may have more 2b and 3b but the place is too big.

  49. Levi ain’t gonna happen bro. Although he is on pace to reach his career high in Ks.

  50. A friend of mine told me a few years ago that Haffner would be the Yankees 1st baseman by 2010.
