Yanks lose. Mets win.
Joe Girardi got tossed last night for all the right reasons. He first jawed with Tim Bogar, Sox first base coach, over what seemed to be his tipping off of David Ortiz as to when Jose Molina was setting up inside. Then, Girardi went apeshit on the home plate ump – arguing balls and strikes for opening up the zone on Derek Jeter’s at-bat while pinching his young starter Phil Hughes. He was right on both points. Bogar immediately jawed back that Girardi was a “f*cking pr*ck” – quite the defensive posture. Given that Girardi has never ever seemed the type to insult unnecessarily to warrant such a response, I can only assume Bogar’s guilt. Papi, who hasn’t been able to hit… (more…)
