Joe Girardi got tossed last night for all the right reasons. He first jawed with Tim Bogar, Sox first base coach, over what seemed to be his tipping off of David Ortiz as to when Jose Molina was setting up inside. Then, Girardi went apeshit on the home plate ump – arguing balls and strikes for opening up the zone on Derek Jeter’s at-bat while pinching his young starter Phil Hughes. He was right on both points. Bogar immediately jawed back that Girardi was a “f*cking pr*ck” – quite the defensive posture. Given that Girardi has never ever seemed the type to insult unnecessarily to warrant such a response, I can only assume Bogar’s guilt. Papi, who hasn’t been able to hit a pitch inside all season, drew in and turned to double in a run on a liner down the right field line. Pitch tipping has been rumored to be going on in Fenway Park. The allegations against Alex Rodriguez of pitch tipping – which are baseless and have been refuted by pros, while having been offered by a bird-brained con woman who thinks that pubescent growth spurts are signs of performance enhancement – seem to hint of bigger things at play on the field. “YOU are guilty of MY sin.” Girardi’s verbal scuffle with Bogar won’t go unnoticed around the league.
That said, the Yanks got a quick boost from Girardi’s fire but it fizzled. Runs and outs were offered freely to the Sox, as were 0-1 counts on first-pitch fastballs and those 2-0 meatballs passed along. Sure, Jon Lester was dealing. He had the blue on his side to boot, perhaps a nod to Varitek’s intangibles (male prostitution? I can’t figure it out anymore), but at that point, if you’re in the Yankee lineup, you have to start jumping all over the first pitch because you know you won’t walk your way on reliably. Derek Jeter has a pain in the neck and can’t throw the ball.
Alfredo Aceves showed some gusto.
Didn’t catch the Met game, but I know they won. Javier Vazquez blew through 5 innings but punched his clock and checked out while still on the mound in the 6th. And the Mets took full advantage of the opportunity, perhaps sparking the first roll of the year, with Carlos Beltran and David Wright waking themselves for three homeruns and a double.
Tell me, oh tell me, where are all the Marketing geniuses that predicted that baseball will draw fans on the home run alone? Nothing drives away a die hard like a fistful of 5.40 ERAs, a slow, boring, sloppy game, and umpires that suck.

I gotta boogie too.Duty calls.
The Mets quest to .500 continues at 7pm! ( Livans career record vs. Braves blows ) We’ll see.
Later.
Longoria got his 2.GDY lookin good with with Cano in the night game.Vicente Padilla 1 hitting the Ms through 7 and fuckin up my system.
$#@!#$@$#@%$@#$#@!$#@%$@$!#@!%$@#
When are they gonna make bay move his feet?
Did kay just say a “jeterian” swing???I fuckin quit.
OK, I still got it on but I have it muted with the thong song playing on a loop.
Melky cost em a run but I think I liked the aggressivness.
Jobas Irish Dancin on the mound, where the hell are you cats?
He hit bay, I am ahead of the curve even if I am talkin to myself.
I’m here, J. For two hours you’ve been telling jokes to an empty room, bro. bwaaaa
I just figured out who Girardi reminds me of. SPOCK
Bullpen gives up 5 runs now.
I’m just breaking balls by the way. Making you tougher for your new career.
I was laughin.
At myself and at what you said.Joba had an awful first but was lights out after that.Generous strike zone but the sox werent swingin when they knew he was calling them strikes.
Don’t ever feel bad.
Imagine researching numbers for three days, writing six drafts, learning how to set up a blog, writing, editing, spell checking, proofing, and revising a 1000-word essay, publishing it online, emailing it to 50 people, half of whom are in the business, and not having more than 3 total views and no comments.
So, I don’t think you can write a bad joke, as long as you write it.
Joba had a career strikeout night. You leave him in?
Thats some list.
I think I leave him in only because it was “c” coming up.But I think the move was to get him a big hand.
Every start from Joba I love watching. The kid is legit as legit is. Dude, HIS MOM was on the front page of the sports sites, in the mugshot she’s all wasted looking, headlines flash “Busted for Selling Meth”. But this kid reaches down deep every time he’s out there.
“some list”…that’s my system hahaha
c’mon you fat bastid, get a hit!!!!
They needed to get a run there.Melky cost them one a couple of innings ago trying to stretch a double.
Joba pitched real well after the 1st inning. The kid was amped up tonight, I will leave the punchline to you…
I’ve already seen what Joba looks like on Meth, so he wasn’t amped on that.
gaedroia looks like he wears a size 5 shoe.I hate him
I know I’m late to the party tonight but I absolutely fuckin hate the Melky play trying to stretch the 2B into a 3B…ya got 2 cracks @ a single to tie the game if you stay @ 2nd…sure enough next batter Pena gets a hit & the game would’ve been tied.
We’ve seen what most ballplayers in the last 40 years look like amped up.
Levi quick with the punchline
I don’t want to say hindsight is 20/20, but Melky can’t run the bases worth a damn. Been saying it for 2 years now. Melky is always wrong on the basepaths. CAn’t give up runs to the sox like that. They’ll beat you by the margin you spot them.
Do you try and run in that mud?
Supe, I said earlier that I think I liked the aggressivness and I know the old saying is never make the third or 1st out at 3rd but I dont like making any outs at 3rd.The play was very close so I am not as mad as if he got pegged.
Joba Chamberlain had an absentee mother, and a father that was neglectful. Now he is out there on his own, 24 years old. Sad.
Stop worrying, KEVIN. The Mets are still going to win the game in spite of Castillo’s boot.
jrz it did take 2 great relays & a great tag by Lowell, that much I’ll give ya bro. But IMO down 1 against a team you absolutely need to beat, I say stay put.
I think ya gotta stay there too. They need this win and thats the difference in the game right now.
Melky has to stay in scoring position, leading off the inning.
I’m out fellas. Enjoy. I have to sleep tonight.
LB, for tomorrow I want Gehrig,Mantle and DiMaggio.I’m going to go dig them up and they could still hit better than these ass clowns
0-5 against The Red Sox, 1-2 against The Orioles. 1-7 against those two teams is not going to get it done in the toughest division in baseball.
3-0 against The Orioles, and 2-3 against The Red Sox might get it done. That would be 5-3 against those two teams, and a record of 17-9 overall.
