The Home Run Apple didn't come out on Monday. Enough field from deep center to home plate to play football, methinks, while noticing the squared off CF wall.

Comments

  1. Reyes is 25 and Wright is 26. Reading some of the comments being posted, this is one sports town that does not cut guys a lot of slack. Anyway, the season’s still a puppy.

  2. Beltran didn’t get a night off for not going in sliding to HOME. What’s the deal?

  3. Reyes made 2 bonehead plays yesterday that might very well have cost them the game. You can’t just look the other way. He learned nothing from crossing over on the ball in front of him. Terrible play. Then he doesn’t run out of the box- No hustle. It’s time for this kid to grow up. He can have fun out there and still play the game the right way. No fan of Jerry but he did the right thing.

  4. I’m not saying that I want to see either one of them on another team. I’ll keep them right here, thank you. My kids do stupid things too and there are repercussions. I don’t trade them in but I don’t turn the other way either.

  5. Thanks, supe. Like I said, I haven’t been able to keep up with much more than the scores but from the comments I’ve been reading, I think people are being way too harsh with some of the stuff on the Mets. Beltran doesn’t slide, and he’s raked over the coals. Reyes gets thrown out at third, same thing. Wright is in a slump, people want to trade him, his swing is no good, etc etc. The Beltran thing was just one isolated mistake. Reyes’ baserunning is totally on the manager and coaches IMO, where are they? TALK to the guy already! How hard is it to teach a guy to THINK BEFORE THE BALL IS IN PLAY? As for Wright, there’s nothing wrong with him that one “Player of the Month” award can’t cure, he’s just in a slump. The YANKEES, on the other hand … all I can say is WTF????????????????

  6. Reyes has the talent to perhaps be the best all around player in MLB. But as Yankee fans know from Robbie Cano, his head sometimes is not always in it. You stick little Pedroia’s acumen & grit into Reyes’ body & you’ve got one awesome player.

  7. Lev, I didn’t realize Reyes didn’t hustle out of the box, I thought it was just bad base running decisions.

  8. Can someone tell me … What’s happening with Posada? All I heard was strained hammy or something. Is he gonna be out long?

  9. I hear ya native…Beltran is a Nancy for not sliding…but he’s also currently tied for 4th in MLB w/ a .370 BA. Insofar as Reyes is concerned agreed he’s still young (26 on June 11) but this is his 5th full season in the bigs…IMO you either get it by now or you don’t. By contrat this little Dusty P’s 3rd full season & he already has an MVP under his belt, not to mention a WS to boot.

  10. Like I said, I don’t want either one of them going anywhere. Slump or not, Wright should have been written into the 3 hole and left there. Period. He is the best hitter on the team. It was a slump that’s all. I haven’t vacillated on that position. Reyes hits a double in the bottom of the 12th, 15 feet up a 16 foot wall and gets caught looking at it walking down the first base line. You can’t teach maturity or instinct. It is time though for Reyes to grow up. A lot of things are on this coaching staff and sitting Reyes tonight is step one in correcting it. If Cora blows the game at short tonight, that is on him too.

  11. For those fans among us who go for stats, here’s one … tonight’s losing pitcher, Blue Jays reliever Jesse Carlson, is listed at 160 lbs, making him about half the man that winning pitcher CC is.

  12. Once a year Reyes gets his waaa on. Night fellas.

  13. Half the man-lol

Posada “strained” the hammy, he’ll be out a couple of more weeks.

Reyes supposedly strained his calf. Everyone has to save face. What a shame but they took care of it in house. I have no problem with that. Jerry saw what happened 2 years ago when Randolph benched him in Houston. It’s a cop out but still had to be done.

  14. Good night Lib- we hardly knew ya tonight.

  15. I don’t wanna hear anything about the DL list … 17-17? Joey G has GOTTA do better than that, and quick!

  16. Lev, what happened 2 years ago, when Randolph benched him in Houston?

  17. He went in the tubes for about a month. He sulked all summer.

  18. John Maine!….
