Aceves Saves

Yanks win.

The x-rays are negative and the Yanks won the game.  Did I mention the x-rays are negative?  Joba Chamberlain will return.  Alfredo Aceves can keep being balls-out in the meantime.  “Aces” hasn’t given up a run since he relieved Phil Hughes versus Boston on May 5th, when he took the hill in the fifth inning and went four and a third innings thereafter, striking out seven.  He doesn’t have a loss in 43 career innings pitched with the Yankees.  I’ll shut up about him now.  Robbie Cano, don’t you know?  Batting second and raking…I’ll take it.  Despite Jonathan Albaladejo’s tremendous four-run dump last night, perhaps a favor to Mo in his journey to 500 saves, he’s been pretty sharp in May.

Tonight, it’s Brett Myers versus A.J. Burnett.  For the Mets, it’s Daisuke Matsuzaka versus Johan Santana in Fenway.  Johan and the Sox have a history.

  23. There’s bad D. Then there’s the Mets.

  24. Philly scored a touchdown?

  25. Kevin Youkilis is a cry baby punk fuckin pussy, plain & simple. Werth & Ibanez hit monsterous HRs…Mets doing their best, literally, to throw away the game, but Santana will have none of it.

  26. Wind giveth…..wind taketh away!

  27. Atta boy Johan!

  28. Wang was terrible. Paul O’Neil needs to shut the fuck up already.

    coltsoriolesbullet May 22, 2009 at 9:42 pm
  29. Paul O’Neal must be Chin Mien Wang’s illegitimate older brother. I’ve never heard so much positive spin on a guy that keeps on pitching terrible. At least Adam Eaton gets killed for his bad pitching. Jeez.

    coltsoriolesbullet May 22, 2009 at 9:43 pm
  30. Parnell hit 100 mph in the 8th. Mowed em down.

    This kid looks good.

KROD in the 9th. LETS GO METS!

  31. Wang gave up 6 hits, 2 runs in 3 innings, and he lowered his ERA from 34.08 to 25.00…….

PAUL O’NEIL seems to be really encouraged by this.

  32. Jrz – 8 more homers left for me. 4 for you.

  33. JOE – He looked exhausted in inning I saw. Was laboring. He did lower his ERA to 25 though

  34. KEV: yeah, but PAUL O’NEAIL sees it as a fell good story. When Wang gave up a lead-off single, O’Neil said that “Wang doesn’t care about base hits, because he knows that he is one pitch away from a double play.” YEA, RIGHT PAUL. And Peyton Manning doesn’t care about throwing interceptions, because he knows that he is three downs away from getting right back on the field.

  35. I’m not gonna say nothin!

  36. Burnett doesnt care about wins. He knows he has a good arm.

  37. Fuck Wang.

  38. Mets4 – Im nervous. Still not fully recovered. Might take years. Not sure.

  39. Metsies served us well tonight, though. Good job fellas.

  40. Agreed. but fuck Paul O’Neil too, for letting us know about 76 times that wang won 19 games, and that he has to have a “mindset that the season starts now. Never mind his first three starts.” OK. So he is supposed to remind himself ad nauseum that he won 19 games, but completely forget his horrible start to this season. I guess the past only matters to O’Neil if you played well. Like Mark McGwire. he’s not here to talk about the past because he did steroids. But Mark McGwire has no problem talking about his 70 home runs in 1998, and how choked up he was to pass Roger Maris.

  42. what monster? great sound off that wall. atta boy Reed.

  43. Lou – I got the box set! Love me some Kramden!

  44. Kangaroo court should exile Wang to a raft in the North Atlantic. It’s storm season, isn’t it?

  45. Hell yeah!

  46. Johan, Parnell, KROD!!!!! Hell yeah!

  47. Nice job Mets. Later.

  48. I’m not counting out Wang, yet. He is still young, and he may turn it around, if not this season, then perhaps next season. I just wish that Paul O’Neil wouldn’t piss on our heads, and tell us that it is refreshing.
