Joba Chamberlain had nothing last night after being called away from the Nock Hockey boards to start the game late. The Yankee lineup couldn’t chain hits together worth a dang last night. Melky Cabrera didn’t quite slam into the wall but the run-in was awkward enough to put him out. Xavier Nady is rehabbing. After the 9-2 homestand, Yanks are at 26-20. Six games over .500 = fat + dumb + happy…for a little bit.
Livan Hernandez kept the ball rolling for a CG, the first of the Mets’ young season. Gary Sheffield has taken this team under his wing. Clubhouse cancer and all…25-20 without Church, Schneider, Reyes, & Delgado. Farmer Jer must have read BBT, David Wright is back in the 3-hole where he gotdam belongs. Wright + Sheffield + health = playoff-caliber MOTO.

Girardi hand Veras a bus ticket to Scranton?
Marlins, Bucs & Nats in that order? Marlins will give the Mets trouble, but they should roll the Bucs & Nats, the 2 worst teams in MLB. BTW Veras sucks. Up 8…now up 6 w/ the dangerous Hamilton looming. Things could get cheeky…
Yeah, but I think Veras is out of options. He is driving me nuts with the way he is all over the place. Just throw strikes and not directly over the heart of the plate for Christ’s sake. Nice to get another look at Robertson here.
Melancon couldnt do any worse than Veras, could he?

anyone catch Big Z’s tirade today?

WOW, I guess Hamilton was looking for the hook.
Melancon would certainly do a better job. By the All-Star break it will consistently be Robertson/Coke/Melancon coming out of the pen.
Shit, they must make money hand over fist with those pictures. Every game, they have 94 galleries of more than 40 photos each. They sell them to the fans that had their picture taken. The cheapest and smallest phot goes for $12.00. The big ones cost a lot more. And that is just for ONE PHOTO! They take between two and three thousand photos EVERY GAME. Multiply that by 81. JEEZ!

Those bonds aren’t going to get paid by themselves.
Damn Joe, I didnt know they did that.
I didn’t either, JRZ, until I tried to download the photo. If fans want something bad enough, they will shell it out. Even in a bad economy. There is something thrilling about it that sometimes transcends your better judgement.
The Rangers announcers just said that Jeter can play 5 more years.
By the way, if you take into into consideration of hitting, fielding, and post-season defense, Greg Nettles was as good as Brooks Robinson.
Hey Shoe FYI someone on Facebook just posted that the Beatles are overrated…I know that won’t sit well w/ you.
Eddie Guardado last seen in:
Nothing could be further from the truth, NAUT. People are always saying stuff that doesn’t mean a thing. With the exception of Paul McCartney and his bass guitar, The Beatles were technically not as good as all of the other bands in the world at playing their primary instruments, yet they were head and shoulders above them all as the best overall band. It is the ultimate example of chemistry, pererverence, and back-breaking effort overcoming better talent.
Joe, They are talking about Rusty Greer on the game.
Baltimore comes in third in the east this year.
Hey Kris, how’s the wife?
Ahead of who?
Toronto,Tampa
I’m with you on that, Levi.
Gardner quietly approaching a .280 BA. That is all we can ask of him.
Shoe, I was such a big fan of Nettles, I even remember the correct (and unusual) spelling of his first name (Graig), but I’m also old enough to have seen the best of Brooksie and I’ll take him any day. Brooks was clutch, Brooks was stellar with the leather, and he was a pro … Mo Rivera playing the hot corner and hitting with power.
Unshod has made me more of a believer than he is in 2009. I like the fact that they just keep bringing guys up who are performing in addition to the guys who are there. I think they can get to 83-84 wins.
More than needed out of Gardner at .280. It’s like a bonus right now.
The Orioles will come in last place this season.
Wangs sinker has the best action I have seen on it so far.
Wang getting some mojo back.
Those were 3 filthy sinkers in a row to Andrus. The Joba talk will grow louder tomorrow.
One more strike and back a top of the AL East.
… and BTW walk-offs or no walk-offs, I STILL like Gardner in CF more than the Melk-Man. Not that Melky hasn’t done right by himself this season, and he’s proven me wrong in my opinion of him and what he can do for this team, but I still believe that Gardner is THE guy for the long run, for this season AND the future.
I will say this, if Hughes can go 8-5 and Wang can go 10-4 and Joba goes to the pen, its a wrap, they win.But you better be ready to never again attempt to start Joba and he is Mos replacement.
Jeter back up to .300.
Agreed Native. I don’t mind Melky splitting time with Swisher in RF till Nady returns. Once he returns the bench has some real depth again. This team is about to get healthy and get real dangerous. Should be a lot of fun in the coming weeks.
Didnt even think about that Mac.It has got to be since 07 that they were in 1st place.
If Gardner and Melky hit, why even play Swisher?
Jeter
Damon
Tex
Big Al
Cano
Nady
Posada
Melky
FRANKIE C
Right, jrz. Been too long. Keep Joba as a starter. Both Wang and Pettitte can depart in the next two years. He can be a number 1 by then. Stay the course and either Melancon, Croussett, or even Soria can take over for Mo when he is ready to hang em up. Which might be 5 years from now.
He’s got 2 HR, 8 RBI’s and is hitting .119 for the month of May.
Girardi is going to have a lot of options soon.
Wangs era down to 20.45.He cant move into the rotation until he can get 2 starts on the road before he gets 1 at home.
Swisher is a LOT like Giambi last year except he doesn’t cause the shift and he can play some D. He has a strong OBP and is always a HR threat and his hot streaks are extremely hot. You have to keep him in the mix. Even if it is sporadic.
I’d let him play against lefties and platoon him with Gardner before Melky.
Lev, the way Swish has been hitting (not), I don’t blame you for asking the question, “why even play him.” But I think the guy brings an energy, an attitude, and a chemistry to the team and to the clubhouse that was sorely missing. No question, he’s in a deep funk right now, but he’ll come out of it (AND Melk is NOT gonna keep hitting .320 BTW!!!).
I just like Melky’s arm in RF. If Posada is catching I would prefer to have Gardner in there to maintain some speed. If Cervelli is catching then you can go with Melky in CF and Swish in RF.
and Gardner wont keep hitting .280.
Swisher hit .219 last year. His attitude is great but he hasn’t produced in a month. If Melky plays the way he’s playing you can’t sit him. Play the hot hands because there are a lot of interchangeable parts right now.
True, Girardi’s gonna have a lot of options soon, but … he has GOT to get that bullpen straightened out!!! I have no idea WTF is up with Veras; Bruney’s headin down to Sweet Home Alabama to see The Big Kahuna of Pitching Arms himself, that’s NEVER good news. Joba is a STARTER … F*** Francesa!!! But Joey G’s GOTTA get that bullpen straightened out, and THEN they will make a run!
