A.J. Burnett danced around the Rangers for six innings and they couldn’t get a good punch in. Chien-Ming Wang has progressed to mopping up in Texas. Mark Teixeira does no wrong. Derek Jeter has a hit in 37 of 47 games this year, and is 10-1 in stolen base attempts. Melky Cabrera may hit the DL. Tonight, it’s Pettitte versus Cliff Lee.
Hey Gary Sheffield, don’t hurt yourself coming home – we got replay now! Dan Murphy is “electrifying”. Johan Santana took it easy and gave up three runs in six, good for win number seven. Tonight, it’s Sean Lee versus El Giraffe.

Franfatso just said that the porch absolutely does not overhang the field at that point by eight feet. Look at the shadow, it is at the point of maximum overhang. Wrong again Chubby.

Lev, every time you mention Fatso, you make me want to do a radio show. Intentional?
lev did I hear you played semi pro ball @ one time?
HAHAHAHA
…Lev and Nooger brawled just last week, that was a topic.
that’s why I asked LB…I recall that being mentioned in their throwdown & was just curious if that was true.
…that’s why I’m laughing.
Texas Rangers is defaulting on loans, may sell minority stake:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601079&sid=apKdt7iapaew&refer=home
Lib maybe we take on collection & buy a piece of the Rangers. Can’t ya see the headline now: “BBT LLC buys minority stake in Texas Rangers”
We’d move to change the name to the “BBT Rangers”.
ESPN Radio reporting that the Yankees have had internal discussions about going after Mark DeRosa. They then said that they are more likely to go for bullpen help and mentioned Sherrill or Valverde.
I can’t see the Orioles dealing with the Yanks. Someone did mention that last night after the game about going after a closer, a la Omar, to pitch the eighth inning.
Just Sayin.
“The Lev Hour”
Wouldn’t mind Valverde. Not in the least. I believe J’s theory that Joba is on the clipboard to relieve in the late season. It’s only math. Whether that’s to close or whatever is a factor of Mo’s health. IN any case, Bruney is hurting.
Maybe that’s what the “Bruney misled us” comment was about from Girardi. THat’s a message sent upwards to indicate that he needs help from the GM, PERHAPS…
I think J is dead on with Joba. If his starts avg 6-7 innings he is going to run into the innings limit. If he is only avgeraging 5 ip in his starts, he may wind up in the bullpen anyway if Wang comes back and is effective. They have created this beast by announcing that he has a 150 inning ceiling.
Bruney has been disappointing for 3 years now. He can’t stay on the field. I don’t want to hear from him until he is pitching effectively in the Bronx. Until then he is just “All hat-no cattle” like they say in Texas.
BTW- Valverde hasn’t pitched in a month:
http://houston.astros.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090520&content_id=4840278&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou
I keep saying they should have kept their cards close unless they are misinforming on purpose. No sense in telling anyone your system, whether it’s obvious or not.
Yes you have Lib. I think the “Joba to the pen” faction in the organization leaked that out and it has gotten the desired effect.
Talked to a friend who was up at Fenway for the Santos HR game. He said there were a ton of Met fans there and that Francona said the next day that he has never heard a chant that loud for an opposing team since he’s been there.
I heard on TV. It must have been demoralizing.
Scratch on Valverde, by the way. “Mornings with Lev”
What’s up, guys. The pen is starting to take shape, not there yet, but getting there. Even without Bruney. Robertson looks like he will stick and be effective. Coke is solid, has his faults but solid. Aceves has also proven effective when used right. I think Melancon will be back soon. Girardi has to do better at managing the pen. But, if the core is Aceves/Robertson/Melancon/Coke/Mo I think that is a pretty good group. Whatever Bruney and Marte give is gravy. Veras has to be shown the door. He is consistently unable to throw strikes.
“Mornings with Lev & Mac”; “Afternoons with Kev & Supe”
Do I get one of those wacky sound effect boards?
I was at citi with a cop, a ex con and an electrician on tuesday. they all loved the new place. they could care less about color of walls, rotunda, mets feel, etc.
they liked their view, seat and cup holders. simple men.
thought I’d throw out a different perspective.
LB – Supe has a beningo feel. Maybe its the mustache.
Nooger can do traffic reports and get into fights with Levi. That would be some quality radio.
“A cop, an ex con, and an electrician walk into Citi Field…”
Like I said Mac, $200 budget. Be creative with noise effects.
Jorgie might be back tonight:

HAHAHAHAAH
“Shoe on the Two’s”
Lev and Mac for the intelligent fans out there. Lev..dont let your ego go francesa on me!
I do play-by-play. My one request in this caper.
Mac – Not buying your pen pitch. Some bar graphs, pie charts, etc. might be needed.
Oh I have the graphs, Kev. This new pitch f/x system lets you load up on data. Have you seen it? It is great.
uh err?
LB – If you hire Lisa from Whitestone over me, Im going to get belligerent.
Not to plug the competish but RAB has a good article up about Francesa and the Joba debate. http://riveraveblues.com/2009/05/why-listen-to-the-francesca-b-jobber-rants-12340/
Mac – I was sellen security to arabs in flushing today. Bar graphs would not have helped. Talk about throwen a newbie to the wolves.
That’s easy Kev. Just tell them they will get a bunch of virgins in heaven when they die if the buy from you. done deal.
nice tip. thanks.
RAB is an arm of YES Network now, which itself is an arm of the Yankee org. Fatso just got more sympathetic to me, oddly enough. At least he’s not DIRECTLY under the auspices of the Yankee FO.
Virgins in Flushing? Nothing but Chinese hookers up there. Them Triad pimps sell by the dozen nowadays.
Hey Lev, again a nifty insight on the inner workings. Nobody names names. “Sources confirm…”
Can anyone explain Variteks 10 home runs to me and forecast the upcoming yanks series against the tribe? What are we looken at here?
As for the Mets, I’ll say W’s sure help the annoying healing process.
This should be a fun series against the Indians. CC returning on Saturday against Carmona. Two “crafty” lefties tomorrow night and Hughes vs Pavano to wrap it up. I would bet two of three. Pettitte loses the opener. Yanks crush Carmona and Hughes wins a closer game against Pavano.
I have no clue what is up with Tek. Maybe he stole Papi’s shakes.
Mac – Indians might be without Sizemore. That will help too.
Hey Kev, just got offered an interesting trade in one of my leagues. I give Miggy and Matt Cain, I get Pujols and Jimenez. I would probably drop Jimenez. I have Price on my bench right now.
Mac – Very interesting. Two triple crown threats ( so far). In my league, Cain is ranked in top 25 so far this year.
Pujols is TEMPTING even though I love Miggy this year. If you think Cain continues to get W’s ( his biggest problem in past thanks largely to weak offense) then dont do it. If you think you are selling high on Cain, then pull the trigger.
Kev- You would always come before Lisa in Whitestone.
Good stretch to be in if you have to play without 5 starters. If they get any kind of pitching, it might work out.
Mac- Aren’t you basically swapping huge numbers and losing Cain?
