Yankee Train Throttles Up; Mets Think They Can, They Think They Can

Yanks winMets win.

Alex Rodriguez passes Reg-gie Reg-gie for eleventh on the all-time home run list (563), Mariano Rivera steps to the edge of 500 saves, and the Yanks are looking like a team that can play baseball.  Welcome back Cody Ransom!  Robbie Cano gets a breather and Cody helps himself to some hits.  Between Cody and Ramiro Pena, who needs Angel Berroa?  Not me.  Per MACPHISTO, Xavier Nady’s elbow is not putting out good vibes.  I second that.

You notice all the fist pumping the Yankees are doing?   A considerable amount.  Never underestimate the value of someone who simply wants to be there.

The Mets played an excellent game of “shut down Albert” and consequently took three of four from the Cards.  Johan Santana is a remarkable competitor why?  Because he puts up the same numbers regardless of whether or not he “has it”.  Same can be said for Francisco Rodriguez.

Subway Series the Sequel starts tonight, with it’s Sabathia vs. Pelfrey.

Saturday night, it’s Burnett vs. Redding.

Sunday night, it’s Wang vs. Hernandez.

  3. def. the fuzz

  4. Chubsy still on the mound? Give us a shot at that BP!

  5. you saying the fuzz just sent me back 30 years and I saw myself on a black huffy with orange plastics that made it look like a motorcycle, my right pant leg tucked into my sock cuz I took the chain guard off, 1 single dollar bill folded up and tucked into my left sock and a Bradley Beach Bombers hat on backwards.

Damn, I was cool back then.

  7. I want to know why Murphy cant do what Gardner just did with a short compact lefty swing.

  8. Gardner goes yard @ Citifield? Where’s nooger?

  9. Basically Kev…because Murphy sucks.

  10. I had a half afro, half push-back, with black polyesters w/ a red stripe down the side. Gaberdines? I had the only bike with a banana seat and a plastic cup on the front rim so when the wheel spins, it made a revving noise. I might have been cooler!

Getting a glance at Swisher’s head makes my night!

  11. like I said, aint so big.

    jrzinbatonrouge June 26, 2009 at 10:30 pm
  12. Bandbox!

  13. Keep starting Gardner, please!

  14. the plastic cup might just put you over the top.

    pretty cool…

  15. Do ya really have faith with an Elmer on the hill?

  16. A Rod now only 5 HRs behind another senor steroid on the all time HR list.

  17. Where’d they find this guy at, the tire shop around the corner?

  18. let’s see thirty years ago I was living on West St off of Gravesend Neck Rd…M4E I presume you’re familiar w/ that territory?

  19. Parnell dropping the ball on the mound pretty much sums it up for the Metsies tonight does it not? The final act of ineptitude?

  20. the bike i delivered papers in got no respect. poor thing got abused.

  21. 4Ever, you see that link I dropped?

  22. Sure Supe, right off Ave U. John’s Deli not too far from there. The best Roast Beef in Brooklyn.

  23. I got it J. Pretty weird that they are targeting Dodge Intrepids. Rough deal for the MC Deputy. Check this out!

  24. I hung a right on Ave, U on Thursday. Took it down to Royce then a left on Ave V. Million dollar house but cheap dick lived there.

  25. Played ball right on the corner there for Our Lady of Grace. Kiss double platinum on the Panasonic 8 track player…the squared shaped ones that came in different colors. Stickball @ PS 216, Eddy’s on Ave. X. Used to walk to my granparents house on East 2nd (rest their souls). Ah to be a child from Brooklyn…no other place to be from in my book. I’ve been on SI since 1979, but whenever people ask me where I’m from: Brooklyn baby! Now that being said today I would not live there for all the whiskey in Ireland.

  26. Hey Mets4…Mets are tied for first! Celebrate before the game ends!

  27. Too many shitholes in brooklyn.

  28. I saw that the other day but didnt read the whole thing.Didnt know til just know they were Marines.

    jrzinbatonrouge June 26, 2009 at 10:49 pm
  29. 1st base ump has a couple bucks on yanks.

  30. mets stunk tonight.

    have a good one fellas

  31. Supe, PS 216 is the gym we rent for Basketball in the winter. I know what you mean about Brooklyn. I’m in a Sea Gate, so I guess it could be worse.

Kev – Somehow I feel lucky to be in the position we are. Jerry is a genius. Don’t tell Lev!

  32. Hey LB for the record I take back that Gardner/Miranda/player to be named to Atl for McClouth trade I was floating this morning :)

  33. M4E SI’s no better (as I’m sure you know) when it comes to overcrowding. Honestly I’ve gotten to the point where I try to limit my driving on the weekends…just too many knuckleheads on the road…too many spoiled little Carmines & Carmellas driving their Lexus SUVs or whatever that Dad just handed off to them & they now think they own the road.

  34. 24-1 in the last 18 innings….just sayin

    jrzinbatonrouge June 26, 2009 at 11:02 pm
  35. Well that was quite easy…

  36. catch yas tomorrow.

    jrzinbatonrouge June 26, 2009 at 11:05 pm
  37. Yeah Supe. I try to limit my traveling through SI whenever possible. Mostly to Nunzio’s Pizza on Hyland. Was going to make the jump to SI but decided to stick it out here till I’m done with work. Then I could get out all together.

  38. Gardner is hitting over .300 now. I would have been happy with .260-.270 but he is proving a lot of folks wrong.

  39. G’Nite fellas!

  40. M4E if you’re gonna trek out here for Pizza I recommend Denino’s and/or Joe & Pat’s, and/or Jimmy Max before Nunzio’s. That’s basically where i grew up on SI (Midland Beach).

  41. Supe, you know a guy named Frank Provenzano, he runs a sound company called Pro Sho. They are over by Midland Beach.

  42. Got it Supe. Thanks, I’ll def give em a go.

  43. Hey Mets. Close game tonight. Sorry to hear about the lightening. That’s God’s stun gun.

  44. gnight all.

  45. No LB the name doesn’t sound familiar.

  46. In 1981, HUBIE BROOKS made three errors in one inning. I remember reading about it the next day in THE REPORTER DISPATCH. Does anybody remember THE REPORTER DISPATCH ??? They changed the name to the current “THE JOURNAL NEWS”, but it is still the same paper (GANNETT-WESTCHESTER NEWSPAPERS).
