When we talk about “chips” in any trade, more often than not, we are specifically refering to “potential”. DeRosa would have been a nice piece but honestly, what impact would he have on a team as riddled as we are. There were holes even before guys went down. Throw Mark into this line-up and tell me he’s the difference between the PS and not,only do it with a straight face. Probably ALL discussions begin with Holt, Davis and/or Martinez and to that I say “no thanks”. Again, if Mark WERE a piece to glue it all together, maybe, but not at our current state.

If a bonafied starter were out there to be had, it would be different story. He’s a back-up and we have plenty of those STARTING right now.

I agree Nat. I think those 2 coming back changes the whole line-up. look what A-Rod did for you guys and he’s not even “ARod” yet. For what it’s worth, Ollie threw 5 innings of shutout ball today right here in Brooklyn. Nothing to jump for joy over but I’ll take the good news considering the way things are.

C’mon, Brazil was playing with them. Soccer is crooked like baseball with the exception of being more obvious to the casual observer. Brazil played along through the 1st half, then came right out in the 2nd and started scoring. FIFA is trying to help the US get some interest in soccer. You watch Argentina and Brazil, even on an off year those guys are insane soccer players. US doesn’t have the talent. Wait until the World Cup when Cameroon lights our tits up.

I attended a soccer game once in Santiago Chile. The fans and their energy level was amazing. About 45 minutes BEFORE the game started, the fans literally started a frenzied hooping and singing, jumping up and down in unison. And it went on nonstop until the match ended. Game officials had to enter and leave the field under plastic protective shields, accompanied by security. They take their soccer very seriously down in those parts.
ELIO CHACON and RICHIE ASHBURN had trouble on that pop-up. Language Barrier.

I love this schedule. Flushing 11:30 on a Sunday for a rubber game. Why have interleagues if you are gonna bury them in Sunday night?! WTF?!?!
The 2000 World Series WAS NOTHING compared to what IT WOULD HAVE BEEN had there never been inter-league play. It would have been THE FIRST EVER games between the two teams. Inter-league play diluted the excitement of the event.
