Nothing to gloat on just yet, here it is July whatever-th and the Yanks have the second best record in baseball with a lot of game to play. Sergio Mitre is not a big man but he put up a fight, and it was enough to stall the dangerously improved Orioles until the big bats got in the game. ARod has been quite the show lately. Xavier Nady isn’t missed, neither is Brian Bruney nor Jose Veras. As a note, Tampa Bay is again showing signs of life. Toughest division in baseball. Yanks go at 1:05pm today, Burnett vs. Berken.
Big John Lannan stayed on top of the Mets and ahead in the count. The Mets couldn’t catch a break at the plate and Ollie Perez couldn’t find the strike zone. Jerry Manuel can’t help himself in press conferences. I can’t write any further. Tonight at 7:05, it’s El Girafe vs. Craig Stammen.

Tillman is cumming.
The last team that had FOUR pitchers win their major-league debut was The Pittsburgh Alleghenies, in 1890. The Orioles have already matched that this year, as Brad Bergesen, Jason Bergen, David Hernandez, and Koshi Uehara all won their major-legue debuts this season. If Tillman wins his major-league debut when he starts on Monday night, The Orioles will have broken the record of the 1890 Pittsburgh Alleghenies. FIVE major league pitchers all winning their debut in one season. A new major-league record.
CHRIS TILLMAN is indeed cumming.
Viva El Birdos is reporting that the Sox and Cardinals swapped Lugo and Duncan, with the Sox picking up Lugo’s entire salary.
I’m happy for Duncan. He’s a good guy, and a hard worker, and even his mother said ( 2 years ago ) that it was torture for Chris to deal with the constant pressure, as well as her.
The guy did put up better numbers than Ryan Howard in 2006.
Lugo gives us a SS platoon down the stretch.
duncan and laroche?I kinda understood the laroche deal, kinda, but the duncan one doesnt make sense. Are they gonna platoon the 14 million per drew against lefties?I guess it was just to get anything for lugo before they got nothing.SO, in 4 hours theo added 2 more guys hitting under .250? fuckin genius!

Testing, testing.
My bad, duncan swings left.Where the hell is he gonna play? They have a lefty DH, just got another lefty bat 3 hours ago.theo is up to somethin…
Duncan is a lefty, j.
I look at is, you take care of our problem, we take care of of yurs.
The Cardinals pay Duncan’s salary. Isn’t Lugo a FA after this year ?
Yankees smokin’ !
Should expect to start seeing a little swagger around here, but don’t worry, I’ll keep you all grounded. LOL
Taken the kid to the movies, see ya later.
Enjoy.

Can’t say they don’t deserve it, especially the older players.
St.L. owes Boston a PTBNL.
spirit, I don’t know how many years are left in Lugo’s contract, but I seem to remember it had something like $13MM left on it. Is that right? And did the Cardinals agree to pick that up? And if so ….. why??????
Was Carpenter owed something similar?
sorry, not Carpenter, meant Duncan.
Pirates have to be really pleased with this salary dump.
Sorry nat, I was engaged otherwise.
Boston picked up the whole nut, this year and next.
The Cardinals picked up Dunc’s contract ( which is about a mil. pro rated ).
Lugo DOES have an 11 million option for 2011, but to reach the goals to satisfy the clauses, most have no shot.
He needs 2400 PAs by the end of 2010, and he has half of that now.
Speaking of trade news, CDY, where are you. I want Halladay dirt, and you’re my Canada source of info.
You could be held in esteem with these fine souls from BBT that provide me with stuff to take to other forums, in exchange for sponge baths. LOL
St.L. 1, Houston 1, top 7.
If you like good old fashioned pitching duels, like Oswalt vs. Carpenter, this is for you.
TAYLOR MATTTINGLY beat the shit out of his mom (Don’s ex-wife). Cool.

Actually Shoe, I think he beat the spit out of her … but her old booking photo looks like SOMEBODY beat the shit out of her.
JK Rowling has made my list.
To address baseball, 3-2 Redbirds, bottom 8.
j, I know you have this game on.
just walked in and put on the sox but I will put it on right now.
Bro, I been watching these harry potter movies w/ the kid for the better part of a decade.I thought I was going to see the LAST one, which would be the book we bought her for her B-Day 2 years ago.Silly me, the movie tonight was the book before that. There are more of these GD things than Rocky’s and the harry kid is gonna be as old as him by the time its done.If I see rowling on the street she better have harry with her cuz we are gonna fight.
jay bird, hope the movie was good.
Wonder if the Cards can get Carp off the mound.
Franklin has stats that match up as well as anyone, but Carp will go kicking and screaming.
Gotta love those ” Granite State ” boys.
Good movie, I just thought it was the last one BUT…
Gettin a little ugly here, Lou.
Ya see that blonde right behind the dish?
They just run at will on varitek.
Nice play to get him at home.
And there are two more movies still to come after this one, J.
Tough loss Lou.
They arent bad Mac.Like I said, I just thought this was the last 1.
Heartbreaker in the juicebox.
Back at them manana.
I am just glad the kid is past the point where we have to see them w/ the mob on the day they come out.
They are well done, J. Ever since the third film on. First two were crap. The last book is being made into two films. They are going to milk every last bit. But, they are doing it smart.
2 on the last book? balls.
Yeah, there is too much that happens in the last book to cram it into one film. So they shoot both films at the same time but make two films out of what they shoot. Kind of like Kill Bill and Lord of the Rings.
gotcha.
varitek down lookin…Yankees 2 up
