  1. Whats happening to ole right now aint cool.

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 5:12 pm
  2. sox traded richard the kid that was pitching tonight in the peavey deal so we get carrasco going tonight, not sure of the spelling

  3. Peavy might have seen that the White Sox are 2.5 games back on July 31, have a lefitimate shot at the division and he wants to win.

  4. “Legitimate”

    or Rightitimate with Peavy

  5. It is a strange move tho. You don’t know what you are going to get out of Peavy with his injury and his numbers outside of Petco are not great. I think the White Sox are going to regret that deal.

  6. J it’s to late ole signed off, we’ll have to wait for the next explosion to send in the calvary

  7. Thome, Konerko, Dye, Piercynski&%!#@ ,etc etc etc. The White Sox aren’t getting any younger. Sounds like some other teams close by. If they win a title with Peavy’s help I doubt they’ll regret anything.

Gillick traded away a future HOF to win and did. Do you think he would give back the ring to say that Jeff Kent played for him all those years? I doubt it.

  8. Yeah, but it’s fools gold, Levi. Peavy has a bum ankle and a career 4.60era in the National League on the road. Not exactly David Cone.

  9. Jake Peavy, the 2007 Cy Young winner is fool’s gold?

First of all his career road era is 3.84, not 4.60. His era at home was .283. He has 92-68 career record.

4.60 is his road era this year in 4 starts.

It’s amazing how people must have raved about him as a prospect but as soon as he gets to the Bigs, wins a Cy Young and has demonstrated that he can be a 150-200 win pitcher, then they’d never trade a prospect for him.

  10. Sorry, sometimes pulling stats off an iPhone gets tricky. But, still 2008 a 4.28era on the road. 2009 a 4.60era on the road. And not a great road era in 2006 either. And it is just not just one prospect, it is 4, one who is already a MLB player. And he is hurt, and he has repeatedly said he doesn’t want to play in the AL or a big city. He already turned down a trade to the White Sox. I wouldn’t touch him.

  11. Damn iPhone! lol

Well, at least the geniuses Kay and Leiter warn against flipping Hughes and Joba.

  12. They are going to do it anyway Lib.

Peavy never said “no”, just “not yet” whatever that means-

  13. At least I can’t say they are toeing the party line.

I’m a little disappointed right now. Could have used some healthy arms. The pen is fading.

  14. Red Sox got better today. The Yanks get better on Al’s off days.

  15. Ransom in the lineup tonight!

Lady J better install the plexiglass.

  16. What are they saying, that they expect a flip to be made?

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 7:53 pm
  17. strike that, false alarm.

  18. Boston added a guy who crushes weak pitching.

  19. I clicked in too late to hear the start of the conversation, but both of them didn’t sound too thrilled about the flip.

  20. I think somebody here said today that Hughes is around 60 IP right now.I see a problem next year with him now.Even if he begins to work as a starter the middle of August at best he will get up around 120IP.SO, next year we will be looking at the same limit as Joba has this year and will be pulling him from the rotation in August.

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 7:56 pm
  21. At least Joba will be a green light. You can’t assume Pettitte comes back until this off season. But you can assume the Yanks are down two starters in ’10.

  22. Absolute joke that Garza didn’t get a suspension and Beckett and Burnett have this year and Garza said he did it. Bob Watson is a joke.

  23. He admits he did it intentionally and…NOTHING.

  24. Didnt another pitcher admit to throwing at a batter this season? Who was it and was he suspended?

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 8:04 pm
  25. jenks

  26. I am not sure that Joba will be a green light. If his limit is 150 this year does that make it 180 next year?I think the verducci BS is 30 innings.

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 8:06 pm
  27. no suspension, $750 fine.

    Rules will be applied subjectively.

  28. Than they blow that limit up this year.

  29. Joba had 108 last year including the couple of starts he made for SWB.

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 8:09 pm
  30. “then”

  31. I meant blow up the Verducci limit.

  32. Murphy sucks, Lev, he really does.

  33. Baltimore just tied it at 3.

  34. Jeter with the hustle.

  35. Damon looks hungry here.

  36. That a boy Tex.

  37. Big Al not being patient.

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 8:18 pm
  38. back in a little bit. ARod took the easy way out. Shaping up to be a 20 run contest.

  39. Watsons an asshole. At least make it look like your not biased.Yank’s dropped the ball today, and Miter is getting ready to follow suit.

    giantdamnyankee July 31, 2009 at 8:56 pm
  40. Gonna be a long night

    giantdamnyankee July 31, 2009 at 8:57 pm
  41. Please gimmie guys that can throw strikes.

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 9:03 pm
  42. Arroyo will be a Yankee by August 15.

  43. That one was a strike

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 9:14 pm
  44. Love the pix LB…Mitre needs to catch that midnight train to Georgia…or wherever.

  45. Train left at 4PM Supe.

    giantdamnyankee July 31, 2009 at 9:22 pm
  46. Some of Jorges return throws come about as close to the pitcher as my 75 yard chips come to the pin.

    jrzinbatonrouge July 31, 2009 at 9:23 pm
  47. Train left-ahahahahahahaha

    75 yarders-ahahahahahahahahaha

  48. I guess they’ll be skipping the fourth and fifth spots in the rotation.
