  1. Did Hessman come with a free toy truck?

  2. Maybe all part of Omar’s grand scheme? Doubt it.

When they start to see season ticket sales coming in below average, they are going to do something like take on Wells to get Halladay. That or Citi will be empty next year.

They are evidently close to getting Molina which would make three 35+ year old catchers they have signed, Alex Cora and they have interest in Kennedy to play 2b when they still have Castillo. It’s tough enough moving Castillo and they are going to sign another one and have 2 in house?

BTW- the other teams interested in Kennedy are looking at him as a “super utility”.

  3. Jackson could be a deal-maker imho.

  4. How many LH starters did the Yankees face this year?

  5. They’re filling up AAA with 32 year old corner infielders and 37 year old catchers while spending scarce resources on 35 year old “future managers” and 300 pound catchers.

I know it’s early but they have no idea where to start this off season and show no inclination to spend the “resources” Jeff said Omar would have. A chimpanzee could spend $125 mill better than the Mets can.

  6. you went the chimpanzee route already? hahahaah

  7. 12/8/09…The Day of the Chimpanzee

  8. J- They had:

    4487 pa against righties (69.5%)

    1960 pa against lefties (30.5%)

  9. That means it’s the turning point in the Hot Stove season for them Kev.

  10. I’m sure all of the rumors of guys they are in on is just misinformation because we all know what master public relations wizards they are.

  11. Putz deal came out of nowhere last year…I cant blame Omar for that one..looked good on paper.

  12. If the get Granderson does that spell the end for Loopus?

  13. Corey Hart is 6’6, weighs 225 and wears #1. Those are warning signs Omar.

  14. Yanks get Granderson and Damon loses some cabbage.

  15. BTW, Tiger bangin all that hot ass and having freaky ambien sex puts him pretty high on my “cool MFs list”

  16. ahaahahahahahaahhaha- #1

I don’t think it necessarily knocks him out of the pitcher J, but it does lower his price if he wants to stick with the Yankees. Maybe your answer is in that sentence.

It might open the door to Hideki coming back though for a year.

  17. I got Tiger on my spoiled arrogant douchebag list.

  18. J- You’re going to have to buy a ton of Gatorade and shave 8 times a day to help him out then.

Kev- I would do that Putz deal again. They took a shot and it didn’t work out. None of the guys they traded was a difference maker and you got a bonafide closer setting up Frankie along with getting Green and Reed along with him. If Jerry had any idea how to use them there might have been some benefit to the trade last season.

I would probably bring back Putz at the right price this year.

BTW- Maybe in the future the Mets won’t send pitchers with questionable elbows to the WBC so they can crank it up in March.

  19. gatorade and razors…funny. Tiger will be fine. Wait til you see how focused he is when he is playing to make money she cant take.

  20. You aint seen the best of Tiger yet. I got on the Big Al train back in March, even got the T-shirt to prove it. Now I am on the pain pill fueled, freaky ambien sex train and Big El is the engineer…..TOOT TOOT!!!!

  21. Mickelson! Go Lefty!

  22. Phil Mickelson! GO LEFTY!

  23. do I need to say it again?

ok..didnt think the first one took. my bad.

  24. David Lennon of Newsday confirms the hiring of Bob Melvin as a major league scout.

  25. Toot, Toot-ahahahahahahahahaha

I can’t wait to see him sssshhhhhhhhing hecklers in the crowd.

His golf game will probably be fine but this mythic hero that has been created is gone, unless he goes to sex rehab and then Oprah. He gets away with 1 “transgression” but a baker’s dozen or more makes him a sideshow. America loves to build up, tear down and then build up again. The Phoenix should be the national bird instead of the eagle.

  26. Some reporters are saying the Granderson deal is gaining alot of steam

  27. heard the Oprah angle driving back from a car dealer before. not a bad idea. cry like a bitch, apologize, say you are sick and get Oprahs blessing. Problem solved.

  28. Jason Marquis throws 175 innings in his sleep, has been in the playoffs every year he has pitched and wants to pitch for the Mets.

    whats the problem Omar????

  29. I said the exact same “build em up to tear em down” thing to Mama this morning Levi.

  30. Agreed Kev- The guy takes the ball every fifth day. Then go after Sheets or Harden.

  31. It’s only a matter of time J. He starts winning some majors again and goes after Nicklaus and the golf crowd will be tipping over the bandwagon. He just needs his “Jimmy Swaggart” moment on Oprah.

  32. LACKEY, then go after Sheets or Harden. Then they can trade either Pelfry or Maine for something. Sorry, but they are stuck with perez.

  33. Oprah would be all over that Kev. She can only relate to mega superstars anyway. I can just picture the “big sister” look on her face and cut to the crowd of women nodding in forgiveness with Oprah. Cha-ching.

  34. Santana
    Lackey
    Pelfry/Maine
    Sheets/Harden
Perez/The kid that made a handful of starts this year, cant remember his name.

    Thats a solid rotation

  35. They aren’t spending Burnett money on Lackey J as much as it is the right thing to do.

  36. I said 5/87.5 for Lackey a couple weeks ago. I think he gets AJ money +1.

  37. Wait till they sign Marquis and Sheets and Trade Pelfrey and Maine and 2 prospects (not Davis) for Halladay and Wells.

I dropped a post late last night I think J on the Angels interest in Matsui.

  38. LoHud…

One other thing, the Granderson-to-the-Yankees rumors haven’t gone away completely.

UPDATE, 1:05 p.m.: Much of the Granderson blockbuster rumors have been coming from New York and national baseball writers, but now some Arizona writers are in on the action. Diamondbacks beat writers Steve Gilbert and Nick Piecoro agree that a deal is “close” to happening.
*Tip of the hat to MLBTradeRumors.

  39. I think I had LAA on the top of the places he could end up a couple of weeks ago.

  40. Sorry Kev, I just saw your trade on the bottom of the last page-I think the Tigers would do it if they couldn’t get better from the Yankees. The Mets would definitely do it but it would make a real pitching acquisition even more imperative.

  41. I was kidding on Halladay and Wells. If they aren’t spending for Lackey, they aren’t spending on Wells and Halladay and giving up arms and prospects.

They are going cheap this winter and hoping for the best.

  42. Was throwing out an idea hoping Omar might see. He obviously needs some help.

  43. I think I figured there were about 6 places Hotsui could end up.

  44. Why do the Diamondbacks even need to be involved in that trade? IF that was the trade.

Send 4 players to the Tigers for Jackson and Granderson. The Tigers get Kennedy instead of Scherzer.

(Kennedy was going to the D-Backs with Edwin Jackson.)

  45. Good point. No need for the d-backs to be involved.

  46. list of cool MFers…hahahahaha

  47. MLBTR….

12:35pm: Olney now says this deal is close. Sherman says medical records are being exchanged on Granderson. In another tweet Sherman says there’s no deadline on the deal, but one source says it’s “on the goal line.” He adds that removing Dunn from the deal was key for the Yanks.
