The possibilities that you could throw out of the pen in the 7th-9th innings is pretty sick.

This kid in the 5th spot for 2MM and a bullpen of Aceves, Melancon, Robertson, Marte, Hughes, Joba and Mo just may have been unstoppable....

Athletics Re-Sign Justin Duchscherer
By Luke Adams [December 30 at 12:29pm CST]
The A's re-signed righty Justin Duchscherer to a one-year deal today. His contract has a base salary of $2MM, with another $3.5MM in incentives for games started and innings pitched. ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick first reported the agreement on December 24th.

Duchscherer has spent nearly all of his major league career in Oakland, after the Rangers traded him to the Athletics in the spring of 2002. The 32-year-old proved dominant as both a starter and reliever, when healthy, posting a 2.82 ERA in 214 appearances for the A's. Duchscherer missed the '09 season due to elbow surgery and depression, as explained by Crasnick in this article.

Levi, this is from MLBTR...

"The Orioles continue to hunt for a pitcher and corner infielder. I should note that they were initially linked to Pineiro, but maybe the $9MM committed to Kevin Millwood takes them out of the mix. An Erik Bedard reunion could be a possibility."

J like Lev states Jeter Al Tex and CC will always keep our payroll up there. Boston has Jose Iglesias to play ss in a few years, and if they don't trade Westmoreland he'll be in the outfield maybe. Nava is another gaudy numbers Farm kid, and they really believe Gonzalez will be their first baseman, and youkilis to third. I don't know what AG will cost but he won't reach Teix money his first extension I don't think. They might get close to that lux tax this year but they'll fall short of it with all the money they have to budget in the next few years. Pedroia's money is sickly, Scutaro is making more than him in the next 2 years, and he tops out @ 11 million increasing some each year until 2015

Between now and 2011 the sox have to get a 1st or 3rd baseman, will have to get or bring up another SS. A LF and RF and if they dont resign Martinez they need a C and a DH. They only have $80M committed but they need 5 or 6 everyday players.

ahahahahahahahahah

Either way J, they are getting up into the upper atmosphere of payrolls and it is laughable to point to the Yankees and complain if they are spending $160-180 mill themselves. It is borderline to complain when you are a top 5 payroll yet are $80 mill below the Yankees. They are going to start having fingers pointed at them now as they already have in some places that they are just as "bad" as the Yankees.

J, If Albert had 1 more run scored in 2005, he would have 30 / 100 / 100 every year of his 9 year career.
