  1. I must still be drunk from last night.

I want Brandon Laird to be on the Yankees’ ML roster, and I’m making a catcher out of him, when he’s a top INFIELD prospect.

That’s it! I’m heading out to get Mary stuff. A hair o’ the dog.

  2. Sal- I can’t blame them for not wanting to go to 3 years with Wolf who will be 34 in August and has a pretty extensive injury history. Sheets at 1 year is probably a better option especially because it gets you closer to the end of Ollie’s contract.

Nat- Happy New Year. You were so excited about it that I didn’t want to spoil it on the first day of the year.

  3. Ahh Jimmy Kaat good man, we’ll keep an eye on him, thanks for that one.. I always read the Yanks had a good relationship with Tellem, I thought it might sway Matsui back to NY somehow, but Cashman seems to be going the cold blooded killer route with his vision

  4. Sal- Ice running through Cash’s veins. He is definitely running the show as far as baseball ops go and his power has grown with the WS victory. He’s on a mission. Now that he doesn’t have the old man stepping in and saying “bring so and so back”, he’s going to do it his way.

  5. Yeah I hope Sheets is healthy, I’d like to see him pitch in NY.

  6. Omar definitely needs to bring an arm in and I don’t think they are going to allow him to sign Pineiro for 4 years. If they don’t get it done this year, they aren’t going to saddle the next guy with Pineiro and Ollie.

  7. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/01/cubs-jarammarillo-on-byrd-marlon-is-a-good-teacher.html

I thought this was an interesting deal, I could never figure Byrd out, 15 million for 3 that’s manageable for Chicago, I guess just getting Milton out is a plus, Jaramillo seems to have his ear that might be a good fit, can’t remember his game that well. By the stats it looks like he didn’t have enough power for Omar, were the Mets in on this guy?

  8. Cashman is about to go on a run of Championships and he was barely visible after the WS win. I think its great, the queerest thing I ever saw was when theo got schilling he was joined at the hip with him at the PC and you could see him realize, “Hey, this isnt all about me” and he took a step back. Go Cashman keep developing catchers and pitchers with the every so often position player and you will be fine. I smell 3 more for Jeter.

  9. I have a feeling they would have gone to him if Bay fell through. He was probably waiting on them and jumped at the Cubs when Bay signed.

  10. 3 more for Jeter huh? He’s got a better chance of that happening if the ALDS becomes a best of seven.

  11. Basically just coming on line to wish every one a Happy New Year! I hope 2010 is another good year for the Yankees and brings them #28.I don’t know who they are going to get to play LF, I Think they should give Gardner the chance to prove himself and bring back Hairston to platoon with Gardner. I wish you all a great 2010 may all your hopes and dreams come through in 2010 ! again Happy New Year11

  12. Happy New Year to you Yank.

  13. Happy New Year 1Yank! Good to see ya.

  14. Happy New Year to

    The Indianapolis Colts

    The Baltimore Orioles

    The Washington Bullets

    The University of Nebraska

  15. Lev, you’re a gentleman and scholar for not pissing in my cereal earlier.

  16. MLB.com has to get in the game. This was written this morning and look at “Question 2″ and potential LF. Was this guy in a cave for the last 10 days?

  17. It’s New Year’s Nat.

  18. Soy Milk tastes much better in cereal than piss does.

    coltsoriolesbullet January 1, 2010 at 8:57 pm
  19. By the way, if the Yankees ever left New York City, keep right on rooting for them. They are your team.

    coltsoriolesbullet January 1, 2010 at 8:58 pm
  20. Willie Mays lived a lot longer than Billie Mays did…. In fact, The “Say Hey Kid” is still alive.

    coltsoriolesbullet January 1, 2010 at 8:59 pm
  21. I want to see JRZ when he is 6’0″ and 195 pounds on Memeroial Day of 2010……… I might try to convince him to campaign as a boxer in the cruiserweight division. Of course, as his manager, I’ll get 20 percent of his purses.

    coltsoriolesbullet January 1, 2010 at 9:01 pm
  22. Soy milk has more protein too Unshod.

It would only be right to take 20%, it was your idea.

  23. Rosenthal has 9 guys on his HOF ballot. I wouldn’t need much convincing to put the Crime Dog in the HOF but his argument that McGriff had a higher obp and slugging percentage than Eddie Murray is not a good one. Murray has the game’s golden tickets to the Hall- 500 HR AND 3,000 hits. There are only a handful of guys who have done that. His argument about 7 more HR is a good one though.

    http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Rosenthal-Hall-of-Fame

  24. Marvin Miller not elected to the HOF is a shameful black eye for baseball. You have to go to the likes of Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb to come up with someone who had more impact on the game. That’s just a fact. Of the many possibilites and potentials that we discuss on this blog, how many of them are Miller directly responsible for?

I’m getting down from the soap box now. Mary’s at the ready!

BTW, if Crime Dog is a HOFer, he should mention something about Dale Murray in his acceptance speech.

  25. I’m sorry, I know I promised, but I can’t hold this in …

Bowie Fucking Kuhn is in the HOF??? And Miller is not???

They were contemporaries, no? On opposite sides? And who was it bitch-slapped who?

  26. Florida rolling Cincy in the Sugar…bad bad mismatch in this game. Gators might hang 60 on the Bearcats before this one’s over.

  27. Yeah they probably will Supe, but do you think Thom Brennaman or whatever the fuck his name is has sucked enough of Teblow cock??
Billick said Teblows slow releasing the ball and that might be a problem in the NFL.Thommy got all pissed off at him.
A fuckin’Teblow cam?? are you serious? That’s just so Thom can jerk off to him after the game

  28. Yeah BR2 Brennaman does seem to have a man crush on Tebow for sure.

  29. Morning fellas. Soy milk is the way to go can’t argue with that. One red flag, A man who consumes a lot of soy may appear to have too much estrogen in his system, so I’m not sure how that relates to desirable panting over Sarah Palin, but don’t worry Babe, Sexual desire is dependent on androgen levels rather than estrogen levels.
MLBTR put this broken record on again last night. in-case you haven’t seen it, if you are just tired of reading about Damon, just tune in to Babe’s Tebow cam and watch Brennaman’s version of the Paris Hilton sex tapes

  30. The only thing better than soy milk is breast milk, unk.

Note to self : Call lib.

  31. hahaha speaking of breast milk Lou, Anna Kournikova still my favorite female athlete of all time, (she’s replaced Venus Williams and Althea Gibson as my dream one night stand) was asked about her Love life at a press conference to promote the undergarments she endorses: I’m not here to talk about my personal life, I’m here to talk about bras..

I don’t think I’ve ever heard men scream at an athletic event the way they used to yell when Anna hit the courts, the closest I’ve heard to that level of passion and lust from the mens was watching guitar players panting at a Jeff Beck concert.

More boston elitist downplaying the Bay deal to the Mets, boy I hope that kid has a great year or 4:

Not the shrewdest of transactions by the Mets. Or, as my friend Jonah Keri put it on Twitter: “Omar Minaya traded Jason Bay at age 23 for Lou Collier. Nice job correcting the problem with a multi-year megadeal at age 31.”

That considered, I now look forward to Minaya someday overpaying a limping, 38-year-old Grady Sizemore and a scar-elbowed Cliff Lee. Frankly, it’s inevitable.
join the I hate boston bandwagon http://www.boston.com/sports/touching_all_the_bases/2009/12/parting_thoughts_on_jason_bay.html

  32. The Sox natives are already in game shape, can the Cub faithful be far behind ?

    Love Jeff Beck.

  33. Lou I keep looking around for a home for Damon, I had heard the Rangers, I checked their stuff out and it looks like Dye or Vlade as the big bat. the Cards have no interest with the Matt sweepstakes starting to boil. I did notice they (Tex) have some issues with David Murphy as the DH/part time of’er, I wonder if he comes cheap enough, do Damon and Texas tie the knot? It really is looking like an Abreu deal for Damon, the 09 version not his new one.

  34. Should I be surprised that the Cubs didn’t go after Bay? I missed/didn’t follow up on what they thought of his game. I guess for one less year an 50 million dollars less dough, Byrd was the answer

  35. As far as Damon goes, I have a hard time believing that he will end up in the NL.

Texas makes some sense, but not for 3 years.

Byrd was a decent fit for the Cubs, especially money wise. How someone took Bradley off their hands is beyond me, but as long as they have Soriano, Zambrano, Fukedome, and Lee on the books, I think their options are limited.

  36. lou maybe the Yanks can help them out with Zambrano, How’s the hangover Nat?

  37. Back to normal, such as it is.

Besides, that babe in the DN drop makes me feel like a boy scout.

  38. Morning boys…need some winners on the college & pro gridirons today & tomorrow. Dogs delivering in the Bowl games thus far. Will that trend continue today?

  39. wasn’t that one of Mattingly’s wives? Soup I’m still rolling around laughing over Bowden’s last game at FSU.. I guess at Texas Tech, Northern Illinois, So Carolina, ( UConn can lick the cocks, but I’ll bet they don’t), Ole Miss, Arkansas (8-2 outside the conference)

  40. Sally, there IS a striking similarity in fuggliness of booking photos, isn’t there?

  41. I wanna party with Marguerite, as long as she drinks thru a hole in the front of a brown paper bag that has over her head and duct taped around her neck so it doesnt come off.

  42. That is indeed impressive, Nat.

My best friend got pulled over and pulled a .058. The cop made him lie down and called an ambulance.

She does look like 3 miles of bad road ( or was dragged behind a pick up for 3 miles ).

    Go Hogs !

  43. Nat,I think thats Pufta!!!

  44. The only place Damon can hit the way he did in 2009 is at Yankee Stadium, with the short right field porch. It will be tough for him to get what he wants. I like Damon and wish him luck, but he should not have closed the door on him self with the Yankees.

  45. Hi everyone. Happy New Year. Saw the Winter Classic in Fenway? My sister’s friend went. She was frozen to the bone, but had the greatest time of her life, even the Philly fans had a great time. She met a couple of Philly fans that actually made the trip to Boston riding bicycles. Can you believe that, riding a bike from Philly to Boston, and in this weather to boot. Hope they got home alright because we are now in the middle of a weekend snow storm. God, love people like that.

  46. I hope those Philly fans drove their bicycles off the GW

  47. Babe, I hope they got home well and healthy.

  48. Not me,I hope they took a plunge or got hit by a semi.I hate Philly fans and their teams
