Beltran’s contract has rapidly gone from a pretty good deal for both sides to a major downer for the Mets.

read between the lines of this article. It must be nasty behind the scenes with Mets and Boras/beltran. Each side laying ground work for suit: whether Beltran had authorized consent, elective v. necessary, surgeon agreed with Mets doctors in the summer surgery unnecessary, etc.
A lot of shaky stuff in there Ghost.

Beltran has been getting examined once a month, feeling discomfort since early November and waits until Jan 5 to have a surgery that sidelines him for most likely 12 weeks?

He’s in the middle of a $120 mill deal and he has a responsibility to the people paying him.
On top of that he has a responsibility to his teammates who had a miserable year last year.
I can’t argue with wanting to use the best guy in the business. He’s going to turn 35 after this deal ends. With his injury history and the contracts being given what is he going to get at the end of this deal? Was he looking to beg out of ST? You can be sure the “dog” tag will start being heard again.
The Mets have some responsibility here too. This has been an issue since November? What better time to have a 12 week recovery surgery than November. If this was even a possibility and it was really a “cleanout” than it should have been strongly considered 2 months ago.
