Well I guess with the signing of Winn, the Yankees as a team go down another peg.I don’t see where he will be any better than Gardner, except that he will be 36 in June and his career is on the down slope. Sound familiar like maybe same as Damon, except Damon can still hit. I still believe if given half a chance Gardner will produce both in hitting and defense. Cashman has really played havoc on this team this year, just so he could save money and feed his ego. I am getting a little bit worried about the Yankees chances in 2010, I hope I turn out to be wrong.

6. I read the comments that are posted here every day and I know I am in the minority about Gardner. I guess when you turn 65 you get stuck on your beliefs.I have been a Yankee fan all my life and don’t like the path Hal and Brian have them on this year. This is not the way George made this team the great success it is today. Excuse my venting, with what they are charging for tickets and everything else in the new stadium, they need to field the best team they can for the sake of the fans. I will remain a Yankee fan and hope for the best.

I don’t think the NYY could continue to throw money at players, they have some pretty hefty salaries that create unbalance financially for the 25 man roster, we may have to endure this, yes they cut corners this year, and the bench appears thin, yes the prices are high, but it’s a +201 million dollar payroll.    Last year the Yanks had a $201,449,189 payroll roughly, our biggest rival Boston $121,745,999 roughly, the Angels $113,709,000. The Yanks have had the highest payroll 9 straight years. Last year they spent the money and made good decisions, this year we have to hope injuries don’t derail the train. Matsui and Damon’s offense will be missed. I’m wondering if Cashman had seen enough of Damon’s defense and didn’t want to over pay for him. I’m not sure why Matsui is gone
