Link Roundup

Courtesy of Leviathan, Keith Hernandez has entered the field.  The organization should keep reaching back to 1986; not only were those ex-players credibly talented, but also, those guys boast a built-in Met fan appeal.  Another angle here.  At least, Murphy’s job is safe, which must be a warm comforter to the Metsie-on-the-street.

The Nationals are pursuing Wang.  You can say that their staff is two or three Wangs shy of pitching for a third place finish, having added Jason Marquis and having bolstered the pen with Brian Bruney.  Last year, I said that the Nats would surprise a lot of people with their offense – they didn’t do that, exactly, but they did add a half-run to their per game average, and their OPS ranking improved from scraping the bottom of the NL in ’08 to 8th-highest in ’09.

Tim Lincecum’s arbitration hearing is set for this Friday, aka “The San Francisco Blizzard”.

Erik Bedard’s new contract allows $6M in performance bonuses.  The Brass Ones are murmuring that the balance of power in the AL West should be monitored closely.  We’ll watch it!

Enjoy the snow!

  1. That link I dropped was a story about a fight Valentine had with one of the brothers in the Diamond Club and he went on like a raving Paranoid on Francesa’s show crying about them after he got fired.

They represent David Wright and bringing back Valentine would be a good way to chase him out of town.

The article also reminded me of Floyd calling Valentine a liar when Bobby told him he would be on the 2001 All Star Team.

Valentine was a megalomaniac and the Mets have enough problems. He would just add to them.

  2. I like scutardo, screwtaro might be a keeper.

  3. Shame on anybody that would trust a guy that would paint a moustache on his upper lip with eye black.

  4. Sounds like Valentine needs a running gig on the BBT, Lev.

  5. My kind of nutcase.

  6. They love ya at the herald, Sal. I love it, ya moled yer way right in there by being yourself and taking your digs the right way, and making them count. I aint got the patience for that route but you are the man.

  7. Sal’s my kind of nutcase, too.

  8. If you are working on the site right now, knock it off. It’s all effed up.

  9. I’m not working on it.

  10. Anyone else having problems?

  11. Not having any problems on my end. Whats the problem?

  12. You gotta tell your McAfee to CHILL Lev.

  13. Sweeney with a not so veiled shot at McGwire

  14. J some of those guys would like it here, it would be nice to get one or two of them to pop in now and again. Your right I did slither my way in, I always wanted to infiltrate deep into the heart of the enemy like Nathan Hale

  15. NINJA

  16. hahahahahah…Ya did a helluva a job Salduch.

  17. no problems on my end, I’ve always had to refresh the page so to speak, so business as usual, although Babe’s drop didn’t make it.

  18. I just got a weird screen.

I could see everyone’s comments and the names, but no format and no links over there –> –>.

I refreshed and it went back to BBT “normal”

  19. JEDI

  20. Nat, the “Glenn Close” comment at TDN was nice.

  21. it’s WP, not me, I’m not doing a thing.

  22. I ain’t dropping my pants again Sal

  23. Bean has stopped in once or twice. 04 has some chops, soxpatscelts(or whatever order he has it in) aint half bad, I think the alrog poster is one of the old guard under a new name. I cant keep up with them freaks, they change names like Babe changes underpants(twice a month)…Just funnin ya Babe, this cuts for you…

  24. Then I refreshed again and twilight zone format is back.

  25. I love the Valentine drop from the old DN article, that was priceless..Radomski loved Hundley in his book, Strange bird Bobby V.

  26. Yeah, J.

I keep going back there to read the board, no commenting, and this lightweight named Lower East is STILL thinking I’m hop2171 … months later!

Sheesh, give it a rest already!

  27. I am just not inclined to go on a Mets board at TDN and take shots at their team.

Why would I … I already know those Yankee haters were watching last October/November.

  28. Now, as you put it J, poking them with the Championship stick? That’s fun.

But the payroll/peds banter over there is just beyond lame.

  29. That’s okay Jrz, I guess Spirit gave away my secret

What’s the difference between Polish women and a hockey goalie?

The goalie changes his pads after every period
    BANG!!!

  30. I was thinking a couple of months back that Bobby V would be a good change for the Mets (considering Jerry is there now), but you guys have changed my thinking … among other things, his ego IS the last thing they need over there right now.

  31. nat that guy hop gets away with murder, he goes on those rants and we get blamed for doing it hahahaha

  32. Babe, whats that purple thing pertruding from the snatch of Irina Movchan on this link?
