Yanks Swat Broom, Groggy Mets Let Down Johan

Yanks winMets lose.

The Yanks avert the sweep on a 95mph-at-the-eyes-off-the-plate pitch that no major league hitter – except Alex Rodriguez – has any business hitting.  CC Sabathia spun a gem that was marred by a two-out, first-and-second passed ball that set up a two-run single in the eighth.  Was it a cross-up or a Jorge Posada brain fart?  Probably the latter.  Apparently, A.J. Burnett’s psyche is repaired.  We’ll see about that versus Toronto, who took him deep three times for six earned runs in six innings the last time out.

A reporter asked Jerry Manuel why he didn’t go with the closer Francisco Rodriguez with score 1-1 and Pedro Feliciano crowding the bases one-by-one in the ninth.  Manuel casually patronized the reporter by quipping “that’s not baseball” and proceeded to explain the whole “win at home” scenario and how the Mets weren’t at home going for the save.  That’s kind of funny, because, if memory serves, two nights ago Jerry was in Puerto Rico and brought KRod in for the eighth inning with his team down 6-4.  True, it’s a speed bump after a smooth-cruising June.  Just saying.

Special Commentary from Bigga:

Johan Santana was bested by Livan Hernandez.  The Nats walked off.  Jerry Manuel keeps talking.

  1. what a fuckin shame.

  2. Hope Cashman is happy with this bull pen he has put together, well he saved money

  3. Todays loss is Cashmans fault?

  4. You are right jrz, Cashman has screwed another game with his penny pinching this year

  5. Well let us hope a Miracle happens tonight and Baltimore beats Boston

  6. I saw the offense sleep walk through their 4th straight game and still Joba got a lead in the 8th that he couldnt hold. What Cashman penny pinching caused Joba to cough up the lead and the offense be anemic?

  7. Wasn’t just Joba, it is the whole pen( except for Mo) when ever Girardi goes to the pen, you have to worry. Park continues to walk in runs and give up big hits with RISP. Robertson is Still shakey at best and so on.

  8. You are right though ,jrz the offense has been a sleep for along time

  9. Lib, did you see Sal’s post today?

  10. not yet.

  11. dude?

  12. Sounds like Sal put the band back together and hit the road

  13. Joba is a pc of mexican shit

  14. holy flushing shart, Bri Bru to the Citi. I’m guessing he and Francisco won’t be beer pong partners any time soon.

  15. Rosenthal doesn’t know a good deal.

If Sal’s real life identity is someone I’ve heard of, I’ll be a little pissed for not at least inviting me out to see him. Doesn’t even have to pay for nothing, just say hello.

  16. Fuck it, even he’s nobody. Nobody is somebody enough! Just don’t go, Sal-O!!!

  17. I went to Wappingers Falls tonight see to my Aberdeen Iron Birds beat The Hudson Valley Renegades, 5-0 ………. only to come home to find out that my Orioles lost to The Red Sox, 3-2.

  20. Id pass on a Bruney for Joba offer. Joba is horrible. Can husk corn with the best of them though.

  21. Wright nearing triple cown talks? MVP talk at the least.

  22. Ramiro Pena, Kevin Russo, Chad Huffman, Colin Curtis.

    The billion dollar Yankees….bwahahahahahahaha.

  23. Looks like Yanks looking at ex-Met WIGGY for depth.

  24. Thats the bench of the best team in baseball, 1/2 a game or 10 games they are the best right now and the mets are bringing in Bruney.

  25. Wright for MVP?

-He’s tied for 6th in the NL in HRs
-He’s well behind the league leader in the NL for BA.
-He leads the NL in RBI but only by 3 over Corey Hart.

David Wright’s a real nice player but not an MVP yet by any stretch of the imagination & forget about the triple crown I mean c’mon.

  26. NEW THREAD!!!!!!
