Yank Bullpen Keeps Sucking, Mets Push/Pick Nats Off

Yanks lose, Mets win.

You don’t have to be a stat maven to figure out that without Mariano Rivera, the Yanks can’t hold a score passed the sixth inning.  Joba Chamberlain doesn’t have anyone’s rules to blame anymore.  He’s out of the pen since last year.  I suppose that I should be happy that Brett Gardner didn’t come down hard on an ankle to save Joba’s sweaty hide.  CHoP belongs behind a hot grill wearing a funny hat.  Don’t even start me on Robertson.  All things considered the Yanks cut through their zigzag travel schedule in the first half without losing a big piece.  Nick Johnson doesn’t count, no one thought he’d make it out of April.  That said, the Red Sox are down most of their lineup and a good portion of their staff on the trainer’s table, and are just a half game back.  I haven’t heard one coach’s absence get mentioned by the Red Sox, not anywhere.  ARod’s go-ahead home run in the first game of the series was thought by ARod to be a ninth-inning walkoff.  Let’s wake it up, fellas.

Jon “Spuds” Niese k’d eight Nationals and when you get that big hit and go up early, your bullpen can breathe a little easier.  All right, so it was a dropped third out with the bases loaded, but you get the picture.  Mets must have sacrificied a chicken and buried its innards underneath second base.  It’s been a while since I’ve seen daylight executed well.  This was a must-win for the Mets, after dropping a heartbreaker in game one and moving on to face Stephen Strasburg today.  R.A. Dickey faces off, knuckles-a-blaring.

  2. going to take jr. to doc then over to richmond county bank park to see a buddy play in some sort of all star game.

talk to you bias yankee lovers later.

LETS GO METS GO! New Yorks favorite baseball team!!!

  3. Wright MVP…hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  4. beltre is having a ridiculous season. With the exception of runs scored beltres #s stack right up there with Cano’s

  5. I think there are 3 legitimate triple crown candidates in the AL right now and Cano and beltre aint in the mix.

  6. Huffman starts in right
    Derek Jeter SS
    Nick Swisher DH
    Mark Teixeira 1B
    Alex Rodriguez 3B
    Robinson Cano 2B
    Jorge Posada C
    Curtis Granderson CF
    Chad Huffman RF
    Brett Gardner LF

    LHP Andy Pettitte

  7. Trust Andy not to throw Posada under the bus. Nice day for Jorge.

  8. Bats off the bench.

  9. Morneau, Cabrera, Hamilton. That’s RIGHT NOW.

  10. Have the Yankees faced 5 LH starters in their last 6 games?

  11. King Felix – R

  12. good call J.

  13. 2-0, 2-0, 2-0

  14. well he got a first pitch strike, now lets see if he can get somebody to hit the ball on the fuckin ground.

  15. 0-23 RISP Yanks – YES just read it. Back in a few. Going on SterlingVision.

  16. Lookin at LH starters Wed, Thurs and Friday also. provided Lee is not traded before Friday.

  17. Hello BBT ! Look like Yankee bats just waking up, hope it continues

  18. Now this is what I like to see from the Yankees, Great Grand Slammer from Gardner. The sleeping giant has awoken

  19. Yankees and A-Rod get lucky on that missed fly ball
    11-2 now

  20. Nice to see some one come out of the bull pen and get outs, only 14tn pitches in 2 innings and 6 outs for Mosley. Let us hope he continues like this . Yankees need some good pitching out of the pen besides Mo

  21. What did I miss?

  22. Big inning w/ a couple good breaks. CG barely beat out an IF single and Al hit a routine pop up to LF that the LFer lost in the sun to score 3 runs.

  23. Good Ol’ Blue Jays.

Strasburg vs. Dickey is watchable even with these two putzes in the booth.

  24. cheese to the MVP

  25. How many Yankees scored 100 runs last year?

  26. Jeter, Damon, Tex, Cano

  27. Been waiting to watch Strasburg/mets all week and just found out that the rays are playing the twins at the same time so thats the game I get. Cant watch it on extra innings either because it is the national game.

  28. Strasburg not spotting consistently. When he does, they aren’t catching up.

  29. Bay locked on the change.

  30. what up boys…a Peter North like explosion by the Yankee O in that bottom of the 3rd today…

  31. I can see that but I’d be amazed if Swisher has a second half like the first.

  32. If he is hitting 2nd and has an OBP of .370 it might not be that hard. I am not so sure that Girardi isnt thinking about Gardner 1 and DJ 2 to be honest. It has to have crossed his mind, right? Might not wanna break what aint broke though.

  33. That’s a thought. But I’m thinking if Jeter isn’t in a funk that lineup never crosses anyone’s mind.

  34. How many LH starters between Bos, TB, Tex, LAA, Min and Det?

  35. Without looking I’m going to say 12.

Crawford has some great PS numbers, and he’s a top of the order stud. He plays 162 right up top. Now by the numbers as you point out it’s a tough argument but I think it’s the same argument as Melky – what does he do in and of himself and not as a puzzle piece in a $200M game?

  36. For meditation…who wins, a lineup of nine Brett Gardners or a lineup of nine Carl Crawfords?

  37. Less, throw CHI in the mix and it is still only 8.

  38. Watching the third inning on the replay. Yeah Jays, gave us plenty of help.

  39. Crawford. The only reason I brought it up is I remember asking you around the 1st of May, “what kind of #s does Gardner have to put up to make the yankees forget about Crawford”?

  40. He probably has to do better than Crawford.

  41. Gonna be a pretty big decision. If they go after Crawford one of Gardner, Swisher or CG will have to be traded.

  42. I guess the question now becomes what kind of numbers does Gunderson (that needs an umlaut – two little dots over the “U”) have to put up to make us forget about Johnny.

  43. If you take the discussion there, I’m gonna say it’s Ghunter.

  44. pardon, Ghuntarrshleiben

  45. and I dont think he has to be better than Crawford. I think he has to be good enough compared to Crawford that paying him less than 12M over the next 4 years is better than paying Crawford 100+ over the next 5+.

  46. 4-2, bases loaded, HBP…Kay says “it’s a nightmare inning”…the nightmare was just beginning…
