Rest In Peace, Bob Sheppard

At age 99.

Plaque 17 in Monument Park reads:

His clear, concise and correct vocal style has announced the names of hundreds of players – both unfamiliar and legendary – with equal divine reverence, making him as synonymous with Yankee Stadium as its copper façade and Monument Park.

  1. I hear ya Canada. Like I said, it never even entered my mind and to be honest, I think it is kind of disrespectful to men and women that were actual SLAVES. Though I guess they were not as much comparing lee brawn to a slave as much as they were comparing the Celv. owner to slave master. I dont know, it is a pretty fucked up subject to start with.

  2. Slammer if I was an NFL owner and one of my players would do that he would sit in front of his TV to watch football until his contract with me expires. I would lobby government to allow unfulfilled contracts to be tax deductible to reduce the hit I would take having to pay the stiff for sitting in front of his TV

  3. Slam, that holdout stuff is non sense. If I was an NFL exec the minute they pull that shit they are traded, period.

  4. And if they are untradeable, I am with Canada. Tell em “drag up and take it to the house bitch!”

  5. I don’t make 10 million a year, but I can just imagine going to my boss and saying, ” You know I did my job really well, I fufilled my end of the work contract, I’m gonna stay home from now on until you raise my salary 200%. Later”

  6. sloppy always has to be an asshole. Remember when he tried to steal the spotlight from J. Hamilton by walking accross the plate while going from the visitors dugout to the home dugout during his AB in NY back in 08?

  7. shut up, papi

  8. Don’t remember that jrz.
    Vlad is in this, right?

  9. Was that BIG Poopshit batting right just now

  11. no it was Hanley,,,I thought it was him on the small window in MLBtv

  12. Anyone notice the crap background music playing as they bat? And i don’t mean Berman and Ferrell

  13. wait, not sure if Vladdy is in.

  14. Now batting, Paul Rodriguez

  15. Just like em….HA!

  16. Yeah that music is the pits,. canada, makes it look like a cheaply DJ’d Junior High School function.

More we love Papi crap. Yeah Boston, no longer being scouted, more or less out of the running, and that’s when Papi thrives now.

  17. Its enough to make ya wanna puke Lib, the sloppy stuff that is. Music too I huess.

  31. That was supposed to be the small trademark, sorry

  32. Thanks for downer milkshake, shoe. I’m gonna go fix a warm bath and drown myself in it.

  33. Does Papi hit 400?

  34. I saw what the link said and there was no way in hell I was clicking on that .

Sloppy gets 400 but I dont think it will be in a sox uni, but maybe. That entire fan base turned on him bad in Apr. and now he is the second coming. He will be run out of town before he leaves by his own fre will

  35. Check out klap’s twitter: DL

  36. Goodnight, Grunts.
    Sloppy’s fucking gay

  37. later, slam.

just watching a Cervelli interview with Steiner Collectibles on YES. Said CC is the best lefty he’s ever seen because he’s both a power and a control pitcher. Says he wants to see Las Vegas. His parents tell him to live each day like it’s his last.

On that note, have a good night, gents.

  38. Hey fellas hope all is well. RIP Shep, indeed.

Larry Brooks has a take on Chamberlain at the Post, the boy needs to shape up or Hal might as well throw the $200M off the GWB, or give it to us so we can enhance our wish lists.

    enjoy the day!!

  39. NY Daily News reporting the Boss suffered a heart attack this morning.

  40. wow! They come in 3′s……

  41. Heyman saying massive heart attack and passed at 6:30 in Tampa. RIP THE BOSS!

  42. I would like to express my sympathy to all yankee fans over the passing of George Steinbrenner…in my mind, he was perhaps the greatest owner baseball has ever had and he always and i mean always went the extra mile for his fans and i respect and admire him very much. i wish all his family the best and i keep them all in my prayers…his stature and charity work as well as his accomplishments transcend baseball.

  43. A one of a kind has left us. Was there a better owner? More revered? More reviled? Probably not.

  44. well said Mike…the one thing you could always say about George was that his main objective was to win the WS each & every year for the NY Yankees & their fans, & spared no expense (sometimes foolishly) to achieve that objective.

  45. i know this is a painfull day for yanks fans supe…george made each and everyone one of you a member of his family…baseball’s loss is God’s gain..hope you all have a great day

  46. a huge loss Mike, & coming on the heels of Bob Sheppard’s passing over the weekend. Sad day for Yankee fans worldwide.

  47. George leaves a Champion, only right. Now they need to bookend his death with a Championship in 2010.

  48. A shock!! New thread!
