Terry Francona said he was happy to see Jacoby Ellsbury back but made it a point to say that the team would keep a close eye on him.
Ellsbury will not necessarily play every day or always hit leadoff.
In other news:
* Kevin Youkilis will see a hand specialist in Cleveland tomorrow to further determine the extent of his injury. In a strange turn of events, MSNBC commentator (and resolute Yankee fan) Keith Olbermann posted on Twitter that he heard Youkilis was done for the season.
That could well prove to be true. But that determination has not been made.
* Dustin Pedroia took BP on the field again today and was shuffling around first base for a while. He still can’t run as well as he needs to yet but will try and extend himself some more on Friday, which marks the six weeks since he was injured.
“I tried to push it a little on Monday and I could still feel it,” Pedroia said. “So they told me to wait until Friday. It wasn’t a setback or anything, I just need to wait for that six-week mark.”
I was right yesterday about worst to 1st but didnt know it was 1 league at a time starting w/ the waiving teams league 1st…
“Virtually all players are placed on waivers in August. They must pass through each league in the reverse order of the standings, starting with their own league first.”
I love how these 2 guys are hurt and not a word is said but rs nation has been throwing smellsbury under the bus and questioning his heart for the last month. everybody calls YES propaganda(which it is) and NY sportswriters go as far as to call it “al yankzeera” but nesn puts out commercials about the injuries saying what a bunch of dirtdogs they are and thats fine…..BARF!
Whoever it was, and I think it was a bos reporter, that said that if Al had been out there taking GBs while injured he would have been looking for publicity but the dwarf is just being his MVP self was dead on.
That was what led to me getting the boot from the BH. Those clowns said last year that if, “Jeter wins the MVP it would be like a “lifetime achievement award” and when I pointed out that 80% of DJs stats in 09 were better than the dwarfs in 08 I was gone cuz them bitches didnt wanna hear the truth.
Did buck set up inside? I was too caught up in him finally hitting one and hoping that the weight had been lifted from the whole team.. Starting w/ KC almost everything was up and in though. Reminded me of the way they used to pitch Winfield and how nobody wanted him to extend his arms.
lesty must be trying to make up for piss being on the DL cuz he is sweating like a pig. lesty just walked Choo on 4 pitches w/ 1st open. That just tells me that becky hit SSC on purpose last night.
They are a bunch of little girls. If anybody doubts that all you have to do is look at their body of work w/ the helmet throw and last night at the fore front.
Hope both Boston and Tampa Bay lose tonight, so the Yankees can be back in a tie for 1st place and now with A-Rod finally getting #600 the pressure is off him and the team and they can get back to sole possession of 1st place. AS far as Boston goes I just like to see them cry babies lose
David Wright has been pushing the ball sidearm for 2 months now. My guess is that he is hiding an arm injury. If he isn’t, then the IF guru, Chip Hale, should be all over him.
They have been unwatchable for a month , yet still I watch. I’m a living example of PT Barnum’s famous line.
I started throwing the ball sidearm from 3rd to 1st when I was about 9 and the old man took me in the back yard and had me throw the ball to him from one side of the 4′ chain link to him on the other side. No more sidearm after that.
"During my 18 years I came to bat almost 10,000 times. I struck out about 1,700 times and walked maybe 1,800 times. You figure a ballplayer will average about 500 at-bats a season. That means I played 7 years without ever hitting the ball." - Mickey Mantle
Berkman has smoked 2 right down the 1st baseline and has nothing to show for it.
Mo 0.36 since My 25th
For those of you kids following along, that’s one run every 27 innings.
RSS have lesty and price going tonight. That is precisely the reason I try not to pick pitchers from those 2 teams

It is most likely the thumb that he has used to shoot steroids in his ass and it has taken its toll.
anybody around for the sox and rays games?
paps put on waivers and claimed……

Maybe Pedroia needs to be in OZ to heal faster than humanly possible J.
hahahahahahahahaha…..maybe…….hahahahahahhahahahahahahh
seriously….hahahahahahahhahahahaha
Youkilis is Superhuman, so he should be back by next week.
its like the guy in “my cousin vinny” that has the stove where physics cease to exist……” I’m a fast cook, I guess”
ahahahahahahahahah
I’m surprised they haven’t said Youkilis is done given that injury.
I’m also surprised they’ve played as well as they have with the number of guys who have gone down.
Pedroia must have had an inhuman injury.
Their pitching is excellent, we knew that going in. You can win with 1/2 a lineup if your starters are only gonna give up <4 runs a game.
I just saw the first inning of the Yankee game today. Al didn’t miss that mistake.
Didn’t Marcum get the memo about pitching him inside?
Whoever it was, and I think it was a bos reporter, that said that if Al had been out there taking GBs while injured he would have been looking for publicity but the dwarf is just being his MVP self was dead on.

lesty just threw the ball away down the 3rd baseline on a sac bunt. clev up 1-0, men on 2nd and 3rd 0 out
lesty must be trying to make up for piss being on the DL cuz he is sweating like a pig. lesty just walked Choo on 4 pitches w/ 1st open. That just tells me that becky hit SSC on purpose last night.
making up-ahahahahahahahaha
purpose-yep
And they don’t have the guts to stand there with a “Yeah, I did” look. Instead it is the “Who,Me? I would never.” look.
They are a bunch of little girls. If anybody doubts that all you have to do is look at their body of work w/ the helmet throw and last night at the fore front.
boston can dish it out but cant take it and that goes for the team and the fans.
“run prevention”…..hahahahahhahahahahahaha

Mets have 4 IF errors tonight.
David Wright has been pushing the ball sidearm for 2 months now. My guess is that he is hiding an arm injury. If he isn’t, then the IF guru, Chip Hale, should be all over him.

What’s Beltre’s UZR though J?
Haven’t heard much about that “stat” this year.
sucker
I started throwing the ball sidearm from 3rd to 1st when I was about 9 and the old man took me in the back yard and had me throw the ball to him from one side of the 4′ chain link to him on the other side. No more sidearm after that.
uzr….hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha
just for laughs I am gonna take a peek, back in a minute.
Not sure I am reading this right but I had to flip the UZR rankings…
