One can never understate the importance of one Derek Jeter, who is now in Davos, Switzerland rubbing elbows with heads of state, hobnobbing with elite financiers, and descending upon Illuminati-grade crudite platters with the world’s most powerful at the world’s most influential global policy forum.
The topic on his mind? Lance Armstrong, of course:
In what may be a Davos first, this year’s event sees the arrival of a Major League Baseball star with the rumored presence of Derek Jeter. Both Reuters and Fox Business were reporting that the Yankees legend will be a guest Wednesday at a luncheon sponsored by Pepsi, which owns Gatorade. Jeter endorses Gatorade. See the logic?
On Twitter, The Daily Beast and Newsweek editor-in-chief Tina Brown tweeted: “Derek Jeter on @lancearmstrong, ‘Should have admitted mistake and moved on.’ He fooled everyone‘ @davos.”
2 to 1 German Chancellor Angela Merkel gets tipsy and asks Jeter to sign her boob.

I can’t quit you, BBT.
I love the BBT and the BBT loves me
with the Yankees sitting on there wallets, so they can pocket more of daddy’s money, don’t leave much to talk about on BBT
Sure as hell no real movement from this team
2013 going to be a sad year
1Yank, I just finished some background behind-the-scenes updates to the site that will enable easier upkeep on my part. I’ve been remiss due to the site needing said overhaul behind the scenes, child-rearing responsibilities at home and shifting functions at the day job, which is all settling down currently.
Hope all is well.
The only stuff I see is the Joba/Youk tension, to which I would say, why is Youk being a fairy, oh that’s right because he is, and why do we have Youk in the first place again?!!?
The Orioles had an excellent season last year, but the onus is still on them to have another winning season in 2013.
We ended our streak of 14 consecutive losing season, which is great, but I believe that we have to have another solid season in 2013 (at least 85 wins) to make it abundantly clear that we are no longer doormats of the A.L. East.
BRONX BRASS TACKS Rules. It’s my favorite baseball site, even more than the Orioles Hangout, which I like a lot.
Thanks shoe.
Red Sox hire Pedro Martinez as a special assistant. Last seen neck-tossing practice dummies with rookies.
Showalter locks up a five year contract.
Question for the group, was it because he made such a great run for the playoffs, that he turned the franchise around, or that he “kept the peace” in the divisional series?

LIBERTY:
Showalter said that the 2012 Oriole team had Andy MacPhail’s fingerprints all over it, so it was a combination of MacPhail steering us in the right direction for several years, plus Bucky managing the team. Duquette, who also was extended through the 2019 season, added some nice touches during the season last year to finish it off.
To me, it’s all about turning the franchise around, not necessarily the playoffs. If the Orioles had gone 88-74 and missed the playoffs last year, I would have been just as thrilled in extending him through the 2019 season as I am now.
The Yankees last arbitration-eligible player has agreed to a one-year deal. The Yankees and Dave Robertson came to an agreement today, and Jon Heyman says it’s a $3.1-million deal. The Yankees previously avoided arbitration with Brett Gardner, Boone Logan, Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain and Jayson Nix.
Youk is gay and Pedro is a pussy
Pedro is an assistants assistant.Didn’t George Costanza have the same job??
BRETT GARNER is one of the most underrated players in the major leagues.
The Yankees missed him A LOT last season, and if he is healthy enough to play at least 140 or more games this year, he will make trouble for opposing teams.
COB, I’m not a big Gardner guy. Something I hear in interviews, specifically, the sound of incoming words echoing through the gap between his ears, doesn’t quite lend me any confidence in his play.
However, the illusion of value may have the same benefit as value itself, so my personal feeling is he is and has always been extremely tradeable and Cashman should seek to get some value for him.
